HIS announced a Radeon R9 290X IceQ X² Turbo graphics card with a higher GPU factory overclock of 1060 MHz. The memory on the card is left untouched at 5.00 GHz, at which it belts out a memory bandwidth of 320 GB/s, thanks to its 512-bit wide memory interface. The card is among the only R9 290 series boards featuring a blue-colored PCB, in signature HIS fashion, and an IceQ X² cooling solution with a soft-gold color shroud and back-plate. We're not sure how well that goes with blue. The cooler is a large aluminium fin-stack heatsink that's ventilated by a pair of 10 cm fans.

HIS has great products, it's too bad that they are so ugly. I mean, performance is great, cooling capacity is way above average, stability is top notch (from my experience anyways), but in a case with side window, it just does not fit with any hardware colour scheme that I know of.

the backplate is ok, if HIS wanna use blue, please use dark blue and trash the gold shroud, put carbon style or just aluminum brushed shroud and it all be good

It would look perfect on my sabertooth, same color scheme on sinks...

No worries, that shroud is just to protect the fins during shipment, 4 screws and it's off.

If I was paying a premium for something like this, it would be because I knew they had equipped it quality memory! Seeing as they don't divulge what or provide OC memory out-of-the box it "shouts" crappy generic chips inside!

As my gripe(s) visually it's deeper than the colors. They cheaped out with that chintzy plastic shield they screwed-on an acceptable looking backing plate to cover/protect those heat pipes? What an after-thought! They couldn’t just make the bend right from the backing-plate and add some graphics/branding on that edge that people inevitably see?

Finally... the whole bunch of them that did the graphics and aesthetic need to FIRED! (not because the colors) The morons didn't think to print the HIS name correctly (reversed) on that backing-plate, so once installed in the slot and in a case it doesn’t read as “SIH”. Really you idiots missed that detail OMG, and on your signature Premium product! IF so oblivious to that, what other slackers had opinions on how the product was cultivated.

LOL at the last paragraph! I agree and wonder if they'll have an "ugly" discount.

I had the 290 version for about 2 days and sold it. ran great but couldnt cool all that well under load.

Idle was fine but man that sucker ever SAG on the back end.

It needs a good strong back plate to fix that one issue.

I do hope Wiz could review this card along with MSI Lightning 290x and Asus Matix Platinum 290x
