I get asked very often what is the best fully modular 700-750 watts PSU? so instead of answering that every time i am going to make another info thread well sort of.

First off before i begin no i have not reviewed any of these units nor do i claim any credit for it, Its all done by Techpowerup so all credit goes to them. Since Techpowerup does not have reviews for every single 700-750 watts PSU i can only pick the ones they have reviewed which means the Cooler Master V700 is not in thread however sad that might be.

Now the overall winners here is the EVGA SuperNova G2 and the Super Flower Leadex they have the best ripple suppression of them all, And they the second best voltage regulation after the AXi, And they are cheaper then all the others besides the SilverStone and the NZXT. And both G2 and Leadex its pretty much the same price as the Corsair RM. So the winner of best value also goes to the G2 and Leadex

Corsair AXi is second best here its voltage regulation is better then the Leadex/G2 yes but its ripple is nowhere as good and the price its sold at is far too high

Corsair AX760 and the Seasonic X are in the middle here but again the Leadex/G2 are almost always priced cheaper so not really worth it unless they are on sale

The worst of them all is the is NZXT HALE 82 V2 its has the oldest and cheapest platform used the worst ripple and the second worst voltage regulation, Dont buy this one its crap

Second worst is the EVGA SuperNova NEX750G it has the second worst/cheapest platform used worst voltage regulation but ripple is not actually that bad. Dont buy this one either its mediocre and way overpriced as well

Third worst is the the SilverStone Strider Gold S it has third worst ripple but its voltage regulation is only fourth worst. Again not really worth buying its very small size might make up for it somewhat but still not great

Fourth worst is the Corsair RM ripple is the fifth worst just ahead of the Seasonic X but voltage regulation is third worst. Again not the best thing you can buy compared to the 4 best and its priced far too high compared to what you get

So. Here's what I did. I opened up TPUs review section. Selected PSU as category and Sort By Score. Here is the list in decreasing order by score:

1. PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750W Quad CF from 2007 with a score of 9.6
2. Corsair AX760i 760 W from 2012 with a score of 9.5

????

Edit: The top 2 PSUs in the OCN thread have been scored 9.3 each. So...

Ripple is better on the G2 and Leadex and its priced cheaper then the AXi warranty is also 10 years on the G2 vs 7 years for the AXi. Only thing the AXi does better is voltage regulation and that is less then 0,5% better. So yes AXi might have been scored higher and it might have better voltage regulation but from a logic and price point of view the G2/Leadex is a better option when its 50 to 100$ cheaper

AXi does not even have the best voltage regulation that tittle goes to the Antec High Current Pro Platinum 850 watts which TechPowerUp has not reviewed yet

Yes, because what one reviewer scores a particular part, gives the final say in regards to how good that product is?

Not saying PSU reviews on TPU mean nothing, but across the board, each reviewer out there might have a different thought in mind on the part they are reviewing.

Better look at more than just one review site, to get a better look.

I would go for the Corsair AX series over the Evga G2 series.

But both brands ship doa units too often.

Why when the G2 is better in all areas besides voltage regulation and gives a 10 year warranty and is much cheaper?

Not saying the AXi is bad but why spend that much more money to get something worse?

It was a question not an attack so please dont take it that way

From personal experience when building a gaming rig for a friend, we went through two doa psu. One a Coolmax and the other an Evga. I don't know if Evgas have improved from two years ago, possibly a supplier switch? But when we found out the second psu was doa, we went straight to Microcenter and picked up a Corsair and it worked like a charm. To this day his Corsair is rocking well.

Now I know it could have been bad luck at that time, but after installation I read of other bad evga psu customer reviews.

Newer EVGA are great PSUs. Especially Supernovas. I know they had a bad batch a year or so ago, but I think they changed OEMs.

They changed OEM its no longer rebranded FSP Aurum units, The G2 and P2 are Super Flower Leadex units which are about as good as you can find out there.
In fact they are on par or even better then the AXi in all areas maybe besides voltage regulation but again less then 0,5%

Its 2014 now not 2012 EVGA has changed they are no longer pushing mediocre mid range units on the market and selling them as high end units or overpriced

Newer EVGA are great PSUs. Especially Supernovas. I know they had a bad batch a year or so ago, but I think they changed OEMs.

All G2 and P2´s are Leadex rebrands but they had a one batch which had a problem, batch was recalled and replaced for free by EVGA and thats was that.

No major problem since only problems are the very rare DOA which happen to all brands even Corsair and Seasonic

You said best 750 W PSU. You didn't mention value for money at all.

Edit: AXi PSUs being the best is just my opinion. You are free to have yours. :)
