Yes, well unless the game would take advantage of mantle. On CPU intensive games, like 64man BF, or RTS, and MMO. Have you tried mantle with the 14.3 beta1 driver yet?

Yes, it's a stutter lag fest. But I can feel that its much smoother than dx11 l

If I were to upgrade my cpu I would have to upgrade my motherboard as well, as it doesn't support 8 core amd cpus. I just placed an order for an Asus r9 280x. Am hoping to get a good performance increase

Meh I don't know about upgrading anything else atm as I just placed am order for a new r9 280x, I'm just hoping the new card can do a lot better than my 7870, which it should, assuming that my cpu isn't a massive bottleneck.

You definitely should see improvements but just for fun run some benchmarks with your current setup and then run them again with the new card. And post some screens of that beast when it arrives. I really like this sapphire card. (http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1227&pid=2131&psn=&lid=1&leg=0)

It wont, you will still have the same lows, just will be able to crank up a few more details and AA and probably higher highs, but the lows in BF4 are CPU limitation, faster GPU wont solve that issue. Like I said, even my R9 290 would see dips into the 30's in certain areas in BF4 and BF3 for that matter with my overclocked 1055t (see my system specs, its now my wifes computer), the FX 8320 helped alot with that, but only overclocked. You should have splurged a bit more for an R9 290 since it works wonderful in BF4 with mantle and would have solved your low FPS in BF4. I was there myself with my 1055t, glad I splurged on the R9 290!

bf4 regardless, i will still be very happy if i see decent improvements in other games like hitman absolution, crysis 3, thief and metro last light. I've come to accept that bf4 is retarded, and might just wait for mantle. Although at least i may find some good fps increases in bf4... in some other maps, but if i don't like i said if i can play the majority of other games i own which is A LOT of games at very decent settings with nice frame rates than i will be happy. Sadly they are taking wayy too dam long with mantle and its annoying the hell out of me... but apparently i remember reading from somewhere mantle can be very useful for systems that have bad cpus with very good GPUs.

EDIT: by the way M0nt3, im not sure how good a 1055t can perform but im able to play bf3 at max settings atm with no aa and vsync. I get HEAPS good frame rates in bf3 with my current computer build.

Mantle worked wonders with my R9 290. I was reading before I bought mine, that the 7000 series cards weren't fully supported till later hence my jump the the R9 290 (which I bought on release for 399.99)

Sorry, that was in USD. They are no longer that price here either, although they have come down a lot from their crypto-currency craze. I bought it as soon as it hit newegg.com

hmm for games like bf4,, if my cpu is going tobe a bottleneck. Wouldn't that be a good thing, that way mantle should work better than it is for me now?

Slower CPU's see the biggest benefit, but the 280X isn't optimized yet as far as I know.

check this out. The cpu this guy is using is about the same as mine isnt it? if not a little tiny winny bit crappier?

EDIT: i don't exactly kow the rules of this forum but i hope linking the youtub video wasn't against any rules. The guy played on the siege of shang hai map that map is stupidily laggy as hell for me on my current computer build.

So what did you decide to do? At least boot it up outside the case and see if you notice the difference.

I bought a new case and mobo, very happy with the r9280x although im getting some flickering textures SPECIALLY in bf4.. mantle helps heaps getting stable 60+ fps in every single map.. no matter how many players there is.. Only issue atm is the flickering textures and heat.. the card reached up to 79 degreese. I've got a side fan blowing air AT it. Should i turn the fan around and make sure the fan is blowing air out of the case?

Which R9 280X did you get? And 79C in BF4 isn't bad have you tried adjusting fan profile in CC overdrive? Flickering texture sounds like a VRAM issue, does it happen on any other games or benchmarks?
