UPS issues with Corsair GS 700 2013 edition

Hi everyone, I recently got a Corsair GS 700 2013 edition. I have an APC Back UPS ES 500 (500 VA UPS).
I know its not sufficient but it should handle little loads without issues(precisely loads up to 300W as power factor = 60% here). But now whenever the power goes off, the system shuts down and in fact the entire UPS. It never happened when I used my old Zebronics(local) Platinum 600W power supply.
What might be the problem? Is the UPS switching time too high or it cannot handle the GS 700? Or is it the GS 700 having a bad hold up time?
I read GS 700 reviews and did not find any numbers on the hold up time. Any help is appreciated.

Hold up time is rated at 16ms according to this Corsair spec sheet (GS700 is on pg 5):

make sure there arent any leakage in your system. i have had the power supply trip trip on a power surge from lightning strike, but even then in the midst of gaming, the system stayed on. i dont use any UPS.

I went from a stock PSU (some no-name that was included with my cyberpower branded PC) to an Antec active PFC and my Cyberpower UPS (LOL notice how there are two "Cyberpower" brands)
And the Antec would shut off when the power cut/surged too high rather then staying on the UPS while the other did not. The Cyberpower UPS was 350W 550VA.

I have an Active PFC Antec that's 620W and I matched it with a 660W APC BackUPS-XS1000 (or BX1000 in some areas) and it's doing ok. It's on its 3rd year and gonna be upgraded soon to a SmartUPS 1000w kinda soon.

A hold up time issue, or a too long of a UPS switching time, will not cause the UPS to shut down. There is an issue with the UPS for sure. It might be the battery going bad.

Thanks for all your replies. So I found one thing. When I start the computer directly with the UPS battery, it runs perfect and gives a backup of more than 10 mins. The problem only occurs during switching from AC to battery mode. 3 out of 4 times I disconnect the power, the UPS completely shuts down with a continuous beep and red LED.
Also checked another thing. I directly connected PSU to the mains and with my ultra sensitive fingers, turned off the switch and turned it back on very quickly. Computer kept running all 5/5 timed I tested. So hold up time is not the issue I think.

seems like it cant switch to the battery power fast enough. if you still have the zebronics one, put it in run full stresses in the system then try switching off ac.

@de.das.dude - Yeah just a few days back too using the Zebronics, I was playing Battlefield 4 when the power went out. The system kept running but the UPS was warning me of a shut down. So I exited the game and it gave me a backup of 10 mins after which I shut down the system.
I have noticed one thing also. When the system is off but in standby and I turn off the power, the residual power I see from the standby LED on the board varies. Sometimes it stays on for a few seconds, sometimes it turns off in a second. Can you tell me how your GS 600 does this?

lol. cant check now. the debug LEDs turn off automatically after booting into windows or after power off, after sun has set lol.

LOL. A simple standby LED on the board would have been good for this. Asus and Intel boards have that.
Also the Asus R9 270X I got for reviewing has monitoring LEDs in standby mode.

i have lots of LEDs on the board. the power putton and reset buttons on the board are itself standby LEDs. Also the CMOS clear switch on the rear i.o shield is also lit up during standby. i need to change bios settings to disable the turning off feature.. need the pc now. will do later.

but it does look like something is wrong with your UPS. may be its got too old. i never required to use a ups ever so i dont have a good idea of this though

Well my APC backUPS XS1000 acts different if I unplug it it will shut down sometimes. If the breaker is flipped or power cut it will stay on in normal.

And yeah I need the UPS for not only saving the HDD but for my files as well. I often write articles and prepare presentations.

@remixedcat - Hmm. Mine is shutting down on a medium load. It stays on in BIOS.

You may have to take the issue up with both companies and bring it to their attention so they can work out issues.
