So this is my first post, and I'm here hoping that someone else may have this card and would be able to upload the proper BIOS for it.

Long story, but I've recently started tinkering with flashing cards, and accidentally flashed the wrong card! My 5750 somehow took the 6950 BIOS I was working with, and it rebooted and would not show anything on the screen. Getting it into Windows only showed it as a "Standard VGA adapter" and it refused to be recognized by both ATIWinflash and ATIflash.

(Yes, I definitely learned my lesson the hard way to re-read and ensure what I'm typing is what I really want to do!

In case this happens to anyone else, I was able to figure out that the BIOS chip is on the back on the card, and is A25L010O-F, and found the data sheet for it.

I bridged pins 1 and 8 (like most everyone else in this situation) and BAM it showed up with ATIflash! I still can't seem to get it to load a BIOS on it. Is it write-protected and I just need to short pins 3 and 8 to put the old BIOS on it?

If so, I'm surprised that I was able to write over the original BIOS, but now I can't write a fresh BIOS to it.

Anyways, hopefully I can get this sorted out. I just wanted to share this information, and took this as a good time to join up here!

Hi

Welcome to TPU

I still can't seem to get it to load a BIOS on it. Is it write-protected and I just need to short pins 3 and 8 to put the old BIOS on it?
Either the vbios image name or path are wrong or the vbios chip has write protect

If so, I'm surprised that I was able to write over the original BIOS, but now I can't write a fresh BIOS to it.
This may occur if the vbios image that was flashed had write protect on the image

Thanks! I've actually been going over a lot of your posts on here with relation to this for the past few weeks, so it's great to see you here!

I had flashed a 6950 bios onto the 5750 by accident, and honestly I can't recall which one it was. I set the 5750 aside for a few weeks while working on other things, but now I'm back to it. What are the chances that a 6950 bios would have write protect enabled on it?

I suppose it can't hurt to just bridge pins 3 and 8 and see what happens, right? I consulted my dad (who's been an electrical engineer for some 30 odd years now) and he did say that pin 3 should be write protect.

Either way, while it was a terrible mistake to end up down this path, at least I'm learning a lot!

I did see the 4 listed there when I've searched previously, and the closest one I've found so far is this one:

http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/84526/his-hd5750-1024-100712.html

But my concern is that my card is H575QS1GD and this one says it's for HIS H575Q1GD. I'm wondering if that difference will be an issue... or maybe it's this one?

*50/50 [*dependent on manufactures specifications]

Should be good to go; bridging pin 3 and pin 8 only disables WP

I have to agree hands on is the best way to learn; I lean something new each day [however the older I get the more I forget the things I leant]

Edit: HIS H575Q1GD has much higher mem clock of 1150Mhz*4=4600 this would produce insability [even if it uses the same memory type]
Note: If can confirm mem type is a match may be able to use RBE to edit the mem speed to desired clock of 1000Mhz before flashing

Require core 700Mhz and mem 1000Mhz for H575QS1GD info here

best of luck

Okay so given all of this, I think I'm going to bridge pins 3 and 8 and see if that indeed will allow me to write to the BIOS. I'm also going to just download that BIOS and modify it with RBE for the proper memory clocks.

It's just a matter of when I'm going to have some time at home with the soldering iron!

Thanks again, I'm going to post more once I've tried this all out.
