H1Z1 Free MMO zombie survival game

I'm surprised no one has posted anything about it so I might as well mention it.

SOE (Sony Online entertainment) has announced an upcoming free-to-play zombie MMO survival title H1Z1. Well, it takes more than a few ideas from the likes of Day-Z and RUST, and drops you into a persistent world where you must scavenge for resources, shelter, and more in a totally emergent setting. Running on the firm’s Forgelight engine, the title will allow you to form bonds with other players, where you’ll be able to take control of deserted warehouses or storm settlements together.

The title’s set to launch on Steam Early Access imminently, and is designed around the idea of player empowerment. If you want to build a small farm in which to grow crops, then you can. Interestingly, you may then be able to trade any food with passersby, allowing you to fortify your settlement’s defences, making potential sieges from rival factions less likely.

Well after playing Planetside2 which I found to be horrible, I now see H1Z1 is going on consoles so focus market is there (since its one of a kind in console games). Only bad omens....

I saw the video few days ago as well as some other info. It looked pretty good, but its too early to say anything. The only positive part is its F2P so I won't have to pay and get disappointed, so definitely worth trying too.

PlanetSide 2 is a F2PMMOFPS published by Sony Online entertainment and released on November 20, 2012. H1Z1 uses the same engine that Planetside 2 uses.

I'm interested in this game. What scares me exactly is what they are saying as far as "This is going to have the most in depth crafting system ever" and such like that. I have a feeling it won't be 'consolized' personally...people overreact about that bullshit anyways so. I'll keep it on notice but holding judgement until I see some actual gameplay. Probably better than WarZ but doubt it will surpass DayZ.

So I watched the full video in the OP (after finding it elsewhere)...

The only thing that looks cool to me are the vehicle physics - no other game like this either has vehicles or has good physics with them (DayZ). I like that. Otherwise...it looks very bland and just boring honestly. Crafting okay great I can make a shed...that's it? The zombies look good, but okay...that's expected. Fire is a nice thing to have and I'm sure that will be interesting. My point is there is nothing new being presented here so...I don't really know what to think. Them running around in the empty towns reminds me of The Dead Linger which right now is in pretty terrible shape.

I will be purchasing this on Steam. Looks VERY promising! I think I will enjoy the game much better than Dayz, because IMO Dayz is clunky, junky, buggy, and TRASH.

FREE. Which works well for me. No purchase means I don't have to pay money. I like that. I don't even have to offer a camel.. or my sister.... or Mussels....

It's free when it comes out but early access for $20 as said before. Regardless just because it is free doesn't make it good.

Good luck with that, was suppose to be done like a year and a half ago. Then it was Dec 12, then it was summer 13, then it was fall 13 and finally we got the Alpha access. And now Halls leaving that studio, by the time that game gets "finished" it'll probably be like 2016. I really wanted to enjoy the standalone, but it's just been too long and my interest for the game has already dropped a lot.

that is too bad because i really enjoyed the mod despite its massive flaws.

So did I, I played an absolute ton of the mod. But that was in summer of 2012. I actually was fine with playing the mod, and still would be, but it just became a battle of facing hackers.

Yep, they always ruin the good times. It's the same reason I haven't jumped on Rust. I would love to, but I hear it has the same problem. So whatever game of this type that can solve that issue the best first, will probably have me playing it. The only real cure I feel for it is to have it actually be an MMO on a server hosted by said company. At least going by the current state of these types of games, it just seems to be the best solution, so I keep one eye on H1Z1.
