Blue screen, without any text.

It's my brother's pc running Win7 x64, I haven't yet had time to examine it properly but as soon as I switch it on the monitor goes solid blue (same like an ordinary BSOD but without any text). It doesn't boot in safe mode either, so I can't check any dmp files.

Solid blue means some kind of GPU or memory problem as a failing CPU will still give BSODs properly.

Could you please examine it and tell us his system specs? It's some kind of problem with his GPU because if it was RAM or CPU the computer wouldn't even get that far. I wish I could help you more right now but I need more info. This may seem simplistic but check that the DVD-D cable is solidly in place.

Thanks, I had a look at the pc and solved the problem by re-seating the GPU.
The odd thing is that it had been securely seated in the first place (pci-e clip in place, card securely screwed to case), so I don't know what difference re-seating it made...

Maybe it got a cramp and needed to stretch? Other than that who knows.

Ya know, if it was an Nvidia card, I have had the same thing happen on my old 9600GSO, 8600GTS and 9500GT... I never could figure that one out lol...
