So, I have just built my first computer, and I would love it if some guru's told me where I went wrong, or the best way to get more performance out of it. I have not gotten a ssd, thinking about getting a 240gb soon, but what else should I do to mke the system better?

12GB of ram? Hows that working? 8GB kit + 4GB kit?

Not really much to do. Just enjoy it and play some games. Maybe get a cooler and overclock in the future.

yeah, 8 plus 4. I saw a good deal and snagged a 2x2 corsair vengeance set for 25 bucks, so I took it.

Looks fine, if you like playing strategy games I would like to point you towards Intel processors, the single threaded performance is much appreciated.

What is the reason for wanting to upgrade your system? What is it not doing for you now? I would definitely vote for an ssd and CPU cooler. Since you are wanting more performance, are you talking gaming performance or computing performance? Also maybe a better case? They're some great new cases to choose from this year. Take a look at the new thermaltake urban v 71 or 81, phantek enthoo pro, corsair 450d...
