Hello guys,

I got a Sapphire 7950 Duel fan edition which maybe could be faulty. I'm trying to repair it and see if something is wrong with it, but can't seem to find any bad capacitors on the board.

I have taken some pictures i would like to show to you. Maybe i miss something and it actually is faulty, and can't be fixed?

So, i be thinking on doing the oven trick? - is there anything else i have to remove that you guys can see on the pictures before putting it in for 200 degrees in 8mins?

I already have cleaned the paste off the board.

The oven trick was more for a reflow on the old gen of cards (I recently used the oven method on a 9600 GT). Not entirely sure if the oven reflow method would work on newer cards. It may be worth trying, but I'd warrant there is something else wrong with the card.

First, clean PCB surface and GPU core from this s..t. Use isopropyl alcohol.
Second, use silicon thermal grease (Arctic MX-2 for example). Test it.

Sapphire and AMD, damn, best cards ever.

First of all, you should describe how the card behaves, because we are flying blind here. Also, if you do decide to put into the oven, you should take the metal plate of.

There is just no picture when trying to boot with it.

Have also tested it with a crossfire together with a 7970 as primary card. Here it freezes on startup when loading windows, but can access bios where it will not freeze

Maybe it would be better if you take it to a service shop, it could be a lot of issues but without the proper tools to diagnose you wouldn't be able to find out what's wrong with it. Also, you could do more damage by attempting to repair it.
