Is it safe for the sata cable to be touching the PCB side of the GPU?

I recently installed a second GPU in to my computer, but in doing so I had to move stuff around such as my HDDs, so the cables are all over the place.

The Sata cable which links to the PSU is touching the PCB side of the GPU and I'm really worried since it looks like rubber/plastic so I'm scared that it might burn through and damage my PC because of the heat.

As you can see, cable management is pretty much non-existent in my case

There's literally no room left in my case to move the cables/wires around. It could be tidied up a little bit, but not by much so I can't exactly find a way of making the sata cable not touch the PCB.

Do you think that it's ok, or is it deemed unsafe?

Regards,
Jared.

It should be fine. The insulating material is pretty resilient. Heck, I've got a USB 3.0 cable laying accross ram heatsinks in one of my rigs, because when they designed USB 3 they brilliantly thought "let's make the thickest cable we can, despite having to drag it accross the motherboard if someone uses an add-in card," and it's been fine.

I could be wrong, but that's a pretty good example of nothing bad happening.

Welcome to TPU!

Looks fine, does not appear that the soldered bits from the card will be poking into the wires or trying to strip them due to vibrations.

Thanks a lot, everyone!

You've put my mind at rest now :) I was previously playing in 30minute sessions because I was scared that something would happen to the wire.

Heck, I haven't even played Watch dogs yet because of stuff like this and I received it yesterday :p

Jared.

I had something similar a few months ago, I think its completely fine. In my case I could move the sata power cables a bit and managed to connect the last sata power connector (which doesnt have cables coming from both sides of the connector) to the HDD near the video card. Not sure if you can try that too.

If it bothers you, slide a piece of thin foam or plastic in between them.

Well, I also had a bit more space between the HDD and GPU, mine isnt that long like yours :)

I would be worried about the weight it has on the GPU. Not a short. Is there any sag to the card? You can't put it on the end of the SATA power cable? Get an extension or a better case with wire management. You could also move that drive to the lower 5 1/4 bay
