Dell P2414H for gaming?

I'm looking for a new 24 inch monitor with 1920x1080 resolution. Some said this one is quite good all around. But i also had some who said this one is no good.

Or should i really look at 2ms GTG models with TN panel for the sake of image smoothness and sharpness? I mostly play CS:GO and Natural Selection 2. I've became all rubish when i've replaced old 19 inch (5:4) 2ms Samsung with this LG listed in my specs so it's really time to buy a new screen. I just have no idea what to take really. I was even thinking about the 144Hz ASUS VG248QE. It costs A LOT more, 150 EUR more in fact than the Dell and it's a TN panel, but it has whooping 1ms response and 144Hz. That's something as well.

Asus makes some decent cheap LCDs with low response times, I bought my dual 24 1080p 5ms 5 years ago and still going strong. I'd probably get another Asus if I was buying more gaming monitors.

Definitely get something with fast response, the Dell is 8 ms, which seems high to me.

How about

Asus VE248H Black 24" 2ms Full HD HDMI LED Backlight LCD Monitor w/Speakers 250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1

edit: I guess they don't make very many 120-144hz monitors

I would choose the Dell I would choose any IPS over a TN panel. That dell display is also quite a responsive monitor.

Eh, after playing Natural Selection 2 Combat Mode with my old 19 inch 2ms 75Hz monitor again, i've decided for absolute lag free over image quality and ordered the ASUS VG248QE. For me it seems to make such massive difference in gaming performance i'm not gonna gamble with a 8ms 60Hz display.
With the above 2ms Samsung i was able to make dead on accurate kills that were like impossible on the LG monitor+tuner which seems to have so much lag it made me totally suck. But the 19 incher feels a bit tiny now and i'm starting to like the wide format so i have to replace it. I mean i never thought monitor alone can make such massive difference in gaming performance (or kill ratio if you want). And i was blaming everything from mouse, internet connection, router settings problems etc). And in the end it turned out it was monitor problem. And i could already sense the mouse pointer had this weird feel like it has some sort of delay but i thought it was just because i switched from 5:4 display to 16:10.

Plus it has a really cool feature, a crosshair painted on screen by the monitor itself. Meaning i'll be able to make spot on aiming even without pressing the right click aim in games like CoD or Killing Floor. Or even be able to use snipers in CS:GO without actually using scope in close combat. Which is a bit of a cheat but hey, i like it since it's already there and will be very useful.

Can't wait to get this monster :D

I do have the ASUS VG248QE and IMO its worth it, suddenly changing from 60Hz to 144Hz feels unreal even on desktop :D

never had any IPS monitors but only for gaming i have no need for one and this monitor displays color pretty fine for me and its also very bright "and i like it bright" and games feel very smooth on any refresh rate above 85Hz.
enjoy your new monitor :toast:

Have you by any chance tried this:
http://www.blurbusters.com/zero-motion-blur/lightboost/

It supposedly enables Lightboost even for 2D mode, enabling pretty much absolutelly blurless image. It works only at 120Hz, but based on words there it's even better than 144Hz without Lightboost. Sounds really promising.

Btw, are there any benefits going DisplayPort over current DVI connection? I mean, would i benefit anything or is it pointless? I know HDMI has certain limitations with this screen and you can't use 144Hz with it, just 60Hz.

I haven't tried the lightboost thing but i guess i will later tonight, thanks for the link :D

and no, i did move from DVI-D to DP and didn't notice any difference between them.
