Cry of Fear is free on Steam. It was made as a mod of the original Half Life, and has now been turned into a full-fledged horror game with some action but a whole lot of psychological terror.

I don't think so since Carmack has left the gaming development area and putting all his effort into space travel and HUD systems. Maybe though before he left, hard to say. Being from Bethesda I wouldn't think so.

They don't necessarily need him around since they already have a functional engine. Keep in mind id finished idtech5 for RAGE despite all the problems it had. I wouldn't be surprised if he got the engine upgraded a bit before taking his leave also.

I didn't see anything wrong with RAGE's idtech5 engine at all. The megatextures looked fantastic and the game ran very well on all different kinds of hardware. Although the game reminded me a whole lot of Borderlands 2, it had it's own style of post-apocalyptic themed levels. The idtech5 engine they're going to use for Doom 4 will be amazing to say the least, I'm sure Bethesda won't disappoint.

RAGE didn't even't run for AMD users for like 2-3 weeks after it launched. It was this weird round and round with AMD where ID Software blamed AMD's drivers, and AMD blamed ID Tech 5, both of them hammered out patches and updates, and eventually it worked right. I kind of wish Bethesda would license ID Tech similar to how Unreal Engine is handled. It would be interesting to see how that worked out for them...
