hi guys, im new here :p

a couple of days ago i got a few things to make my own arcade machine, everything okay until i try to install the vga driver and i got the "graphics drivers cant find a compatible graphics hardware" error, i start looking for a fix but i got nothing, last night i found via everest that the card dont shows as geforce 9500gt instead says geforce 9400gt, BUT after run gpu-z i got "nvidia entry graphics" and chipset g72 that actually is for a 7300gs or 7200se.

so, i run nvflash to extract the bios and open the bios in nibitor and actually is a 7300gs modded like a 9400 and rebranded like a 9500 (what a mess xD)

try to mod the bios myself for at least make the 7300 drivers work but in nvflash i got "gpu missmatch" error.

i dont buy the card, i got from an uncle and after looking for the cd driver i got nothing.

if someone can help it would be nice :)

Welcome to TPU!

So the BIOS is actually showing it's a 7300gs is what I gather? If so, then Nvidia legacy driver may be what you need. Have you been to the Nvidia site? It's no longer supported, but they do have the legacy drivers. Don't worry, I think it was in the last 6 months they stopped supporting.

What OS are you using? Try doing a manual search here: http://www.geforce.com/drivers

Were you having it search for you? If it's mislabeled BIOS, it may not find it. The box in the middle allows you to pick your operating system, and the exact type of graphics card. I'll check it. What windows 7, 32 bit or 64 bit?

If this doesn't work, it's possible the card may need to be re-flashed completely back to a 7300.

32bit, i think the best thing to do is reflash but i tried last night with no results, try with the 7300 bios that i found here but nvflash give me "gpu missmatch" error, there is another way to reflash?

GeForce 7 Series drivers should work (assuming G72 is correct). You may have to extract the package and then use Windows Device Manager to pick the driver from the extracted package.

If you already re-flashed and failed, I seriously doubt any drivers will work. On the link above, in the middle section, Manual Driver Search, select "GeForce 7 series"; next box: Windows 7 32 bit; next box whatever your preferred language, and hit Start Search. The latest driver available is 307.83, assuming the flash didn't kill the BIOS.

As to Flashing, I can't give advice. I did it once, but am not comfortable or knowledgable enough.

Here is a video:

You will not be running an executable. You will be using Device Manager -> Display Adapter -> Update Driver and point it to the C:\NVIDIA folder. Make sure to check the search subfolders box. Windows should be able to find a driver that matches the card's PCI information.

You may have to force it to try one too. If it fails and the GPU goes off, reboot in safemode and roll it back then try another.

You should be looking more at performance than GPU-Z. If the performance is good/acceptable, leave it. Assuming G72 is right, the 7300 driver will be the best.

its a 7300GS that someone slapped a 9500GT sticker on Vbios has nothing todo with the problem
___
open the device manger
right click goto proprieties
click on the details tab
select hardware id's from the menu
post them here

honestly a 7300GS is so old that whatever you have for on-board video is most likely marginally better

It's an unknown 7### G72 but most likely falls into the category of 7300. It could be proprietary/OEM. I'd load up the drivers that labeled it a 7300 and call it good.

It defeinitely ISN'T anything from the 9### line because most of them are G94. I'd personally rip that sticker off because a) it's wrong and b) no way that card is under warranty anymore. I doubt the 512 MiB claim is correct either (although it could be).

The card would be better because it has dedicated memory but only if the NVIDIA drivers work well with the GPU.
