What do I need to upgrade?

When I play titanfall it skips and lags on all high but my average cpu usage is about 50-70% and my average gpu usage is 60-70% and my ram usage is 3gb/4gb but it still lags with the available resources left. Do you think my ram is making the game skip? it runs smoothly for a few seconds then skips for a few seconds and repeats. i have an amd 965 BE and an oc gtx 460 and 4gb of 1600mhz ddr3

4GB is most likely your problem windows starts paging at 90% usage witch would account for the stuttering

Well, with that setup I would upgrade to 8gb ram and a better video card, probably R9 270X or 280X, your cpu isn't bad at all, I dont think it will bottleneck any of those 2 video cards.

any thoughts on my selections? i chose the gpu because thats my price range.
would this gpu render having 8gb of ram useless? should i only get the gpu?

ive never had driver problems and i cant hear mine run but it does get hot. and i can max out any game even almost crysis on it just not titanfall lol. but if you could see my last question thanks

1866 is kind of a waste on a phenom II you would need to overclock the cpu-nothbridge to like 2800 to get the benefit i would go with a cheaper 1600 kit

the mb is am3 only but it can run 1800mhz sticks and it overclocks too

i dont have the 770 yet i have the 460 and my phenom is at 4ghz. and my mb can already run the ram speed without ocing it

What's been implied but not said is high clocked memory wont help games much but more ie 8gig would.
Amd 1866 clocked memory on a phenom would work best with the northbridge overclocked but in games this wont gain much more fps so its optional imho and I did try various ocs when I too had a phenom.
Just get 1600 ddr3 8gig and a r9280 and you should be quite pleased with the results against your own present setup.

you need to overclock the IMC because its not fast enough to handle 1600 let alone 1866

my mb can run 1800mhz stock and it has a very simple overclock feature for the ram if i end up needing it. and i dont mind if the difference between 1600 and 1866 is small i still want the 1866 lol

its not the motherboard you aren't understanding its the CPU the memory controller ON the cpu is NOT fast enough to waste time with a 1866kit Unless you overclock the cpu-nb

What you should just grab is another 4gb of ram as stated at 1600mhz which will be just fine for your needs. Also a nicer video card would help you get some better FPS in games, but nothing to high as the 965 BE is getting on in age.

Cpu is fine. The ran needs to be upped to 8gb. Gpu a Radeon 270 or better
