H100i Failure causing CPU+GPU temp to reach 100C?

Hey all
I've had my most recent build for around 14 Months now and have had very little problems with it. However yesterday I noticed that when idle my CPU temp was fluctuating between 50-60C and when i opened a game(WoW) my CPU temp would slowly rise to 100+ over the course of around 5 mins. I also noticed today whilst doing another test to confirm this, that my GPU temp seemed to also skyrocket towards 90C.

Yesterday I did see that when i brought my cpu under around 15% load with the game open that only one of the tubes in my H100i was becoming hot and the other was staying cool. After scouring forums I saw that a number of people put this down to either a pump failure or blockage in the loop somewhere.

I was all prepared to replace my H100i but I don't see how that would account for my GPU temp rising so high.

System Specs:
NZXT Phantom Full Tower (Pull from sides, Push up through H100i radiator)
Asus P8Z77-V pro Mobo
i7 3770k at stock(3.5) Voltages set to auto and rarely go over 1.2v
EVGA GTX680 (Never had any temp problems before, not that WoW would)
4 NZXT case fans on pull
H100i with rad+dual 120mm fans at top of case on push

Even when my cpu reaches 100C under such low load, the air from the radiator is very cool which makes me think that there is no circulation around the cooling loop. I thought that a simple replacement would help, but then I noticed the increased GPU temp also. GPU voltage is 0.987V

Any help would be massively appreciated!

Judging from my experience with Corsair water coolers I'd say that the pump is indeed dead.

Do you have Corsair LINK installed? Maybe some settings are out of order, afaik that software can also manage GPU fan speeds.

Other than that the most probable cause for high GPU temps is either dirt or too much voltage. I once had a GPU tweaking software installed which bugged out one day and just pumped the GPU voltage sky high.

I just got an RMA approved with Corsair to get my H80i replaced. Coolant started hitting 75C and CPU would hit 100C and throttle. The pump was still showing full RPM, but nothing else could explain the issue for me. I'm just waiting to mail it off to them and I'm replacing it with an air cooler. I'll be selling my replacement H80i, most likely, once I get it. Thing only lasted 5 months.

I would also say the pump in the H100 has gone bad. That is why you are not feeling any heat coming from your radiator.

As for the GPU, since the pump is not removing any heat from your CPU, I would imagine that the pump/waterblock it's self is getting really hot, and heating up the inside of your case, causing your video card to over heat.

Just another reason why I will never go back to a AIO water-cooler.

Some are good and some are bad. I still have a H50 that is well over 3 years old and it still does good. From what I have seen though the newer corsairs have pump issues constantly. The Thermeltake series I reviewed was GREAT! I would go with the water2.0 240 rad version and be done with it.

Yesterday I lapped and reinstalled my h100i and had the same bad temperatures (60-70). Pump doesn't make any noise. These things suck. I had figured the bad temps I got last time were from the stuck on CLU amalgam but I lapped it all off and its nice flat and smooth now. I have a stethoscope that I'll put on it and see if I can hear the pump, but I am guessing its burned out. We should be glad it didn't fail catastrophically spraying liquid everywhere.

Phanteks is back on for good.

Well, hopefully Corsair won't notice a lapped baseplate if you intend to RMA it.

Fingers crossed my H80i lasts a little while longer :p

Longer then the LEDs on their K70 keyboards at least...

Well, when I get my replacement I'll sell you it so you have a backup. =P

Unfortunately im going a bit anti-corsair at the moment. Would rather switch back to Asetek made units rather then another corsair if my H80i decides to die

I would also put my money on a bad pump since the tubes are like that. Probably running very slow, had a friends h60 act like that as well.

As for gpu, try cleaning out the fans as it may have some high levels of dust on it. See what happens for there, but your first thing should be to RMA the h100.

The Asetek pumps seem higher quality, I have an Asetek AIO 120mm with the full size old school pump/block and copper base in my ITX. It ran for 3 years in my friends rig and I acquired it for free, it now runs in mine with good temps but I don't trust it, the corrugated piping looks like it could split with age eventually.
I remember watching a video and the Asetek style pumps push more than the Coolit (H100i/80i)

Can you not reset the firmware on that coolers pump? I know my ol H100 could be reset if it started to act up.

Just a thought ;)

this might sound kinda crazy but i'd try unplug the pump and replug it in just to make sure, and 2ndly are you sure the fans are either on or aiming at the right direction? i've done both before. just fyi...
