Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
The titans are insanely powerful, but also insanely overpriced. Their big advantage is that they can be used for both gaming and HPC. For pure HPC, the Tesla K series, while expensive, is a beast. The 780 Ti, a gamer's card, is powerful, but still pretty expensive. In terms of value, high-end AMD cards score best.
well if you are tied between a Titan (non black non Z) and a 290 and you don't need double precision, the choice is obvious, same goes for 290X/Titan Black 295X2/Titan Z (and comparing the price also .... not only the performances)

I like my 770 more than my old 7970 (280x) but my 770 has a hefty overclock.

if we except the fact that a 280X is a bit more efficient than a 7970 (just like a 770 is a bloody good 680) you had a Sidegrade and depending the price paid on the 770 it was a good idea indeed

There really is no difference when comparing the GTX 770 and 680 together in terms of the basic specs same with the 7970 and R9 280X. They are just pre-overclocked/rebranded as a different name and what not. The GTX 770 is just pushed to its limits pretty much by the OEM's or right around there on air cooling solutions. The 280X just received some revised coolers or clock changes as well but mostly remained the same and overclocks about the same. The only major difference between the revisions was the foolish decision by Nvidia to not allow the GTX 680 and GTX 770 to work in SLI while the R9 280X works with an Hd 7970 in CFX. None of the cards are superior to their previous generation counterparts except in the coolers and in some cases more refined chips (or better binning whatever you want to call it).

that's why i have a ref 290, after a 270 and a 270X i got fed of the rebranding even if they are damn good and a 270 use only 1 6pin and need less power than the card she derivated :D
altho the spec are the same but there are some refinement/amelioration on the 770/280X. (result in review also give out the trend about optimization in those cases )

for me too it was a golden deal i made no money since i sold the 270X 180$~ and paid the 290 190$~ but still i can't complain

The GTX 780ti Trades blows with the R9 290X for single GPU's. However the GTX 780ti edges out in total performance

The R9 295x trades blows with the GTX Titan-Z for Dual GPU's. But the R9 295X takes the crwon in performance and price total.

i hear you bro. But i have had the habit of always upgrading my machines. I run a gaming cafe so upgrading hardware is my main capital cost , and i think 4k is the newest craze, Alot of capital to swallow bro.

I thought the titan z is faster then the 295x2, why do people say the 295x2 is the king of dual gpu ?

295 is the better card in terms of performance. Also maybe some games you will have marginal increase in frame rate but is that really worth the double price tag?

Titan Z sometimes has better performance, but costs twice as much.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
when are the maxwells planning to come out? I'm probably part with all my 290s in my gaming rigs at my cafe to upgrade to stay with the time. Pitty these cards are really good too !
i hear you bro. But i have had the habit of always upgrading my machines. I run a gaming cafe so upgrading hardware is my main capital cost , and i think 4k is the newest craze, Alot of capital to swallow bro.
well i pretty much doubt a 290 will be obsolete due to Maxwell (it's the small fry who gonna get out, the big one are planned for 2015, a bit like Kepler did tho the 680/770 was a good one :D) 6970/6990/580/590 even today are far to be out of the race and 290 will not be a POS card due to 8XX serie

4k i fail to see the point for screens under 40" (of course there is a point but not for a gaming cafe) not much are in craze about this new "standard" (and i also pretty much doubt Maxwell will be the "4k to have" cards) run a CFX add a 290 per machine if you want to go 4K or better go 1440/1600P screen if you did not already ... it's more than enough (imho 4k is like bluray, good idea, interesting to see, but overly too expensive and no qualified single gpu board to drive it)

As a business you should be trying to make as much money as possible, I dont know how big your cafe is, i dont know how much rent you have to pay but even if the gaming side brings in the most income its not like youre not going to be able to play the latest games anymore because of maxwell...

as for 4k I wouldnt be so quick to jump on the boat. I dont know how many machines you have but add another 290 for crossfireX through in a 4k 24" monitor on 2 or 3 of your machines and charge a little more for the experience,

All i see here is money being spent and not being able to make back the cash spent. A gaming cafe while awesome is still catering to a niche market no matter which country you are in.

for screen size up to 28" 4k isnt that expencieve http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007617 600338147&IsNodeId=1
atm problems are more on the technical side then price. i saw review of 4k monitor (cant remember if it was dell or asus 28") in which was shown that one half of monitor is divergeting from other with few lines or one half is zoomed other isnt (at that time 4k display was handled as 2 portrait 1080p screens), low refresh rate (or tn matrix for 60hz refresh) etc.
it will take some time till 4k is made to run as smoth as 1080p/1440p runs today
as for the gpu power dont forget that in reviews of vga cards test for 4k are made with maxed AA which leads to relatively low fps while till about 32" screen size pixel density is so high that you dont need AA at all.
currently 780/290 and above cards can run 4k@60fps no AA just fine as soon as they arnt vram limited

Your so right. Its definately a niche market , market is not even good right now, i figured i could upgrade to attract customers. Very true point. Thank you very much
