Hello, I' planning to crossflash my current card HD7790-DC2OC-1GD5 to 260X but I have failed to find suitable bios dump as all asus's bioses in the database are for 2GB models and i guess they are not compatible. Maybe someone with R7260X-DC2OC-2GD5 or updated HD 7790 can provide a bios dump? I desperately need an UEFI bios and I think this is the only way out :)

Hi

Welcome to TPU

Hello, I' planning to crossflash my current card HD7790-DC2OC-1GD5
If have a ASUS motherboard they have made a UEFI vbios image update tool available on their web site.
Example
No native support.jpg
Source - here

Note: this process is not reversable; should anything go wrong

Maybe someone with R7260X-DC2OC-2GD5 or updated HD 7790 can provide a bios dump?
Flashing a 2GD5 vbios image to a 1GD5 pcb will brick the vga card

I desperately need an UEFI bios and I think this is the only way out :)
advice [*if mobo is not asus], sell the current card and buy one that supports UEFI out of the box

Here is a bios you can try: http://1drv.ms/1pS7K2v

It is a 260X-DC2OC-2GB bios modified for your memory configuration (2Gbit Hynix Gemma ICs).

It should work as longs as the two cards are otherwise identical.
Obviously I have not tested.

ps. The bios will only work with Catalyst 14.1 and newer drivers.

Law-II, I obviously mean R7260X-DC2OC-1GD5 :) I do not have Asus mb so can I at least try to flash with Gigabyte rom? Gigabyte provides one on his website

The vendor of your motherboard does not matter.
There are no physical differences between UEFI and non-UEFI cards, it is all about the VBIOS configuration.
UEFI VBIOSes have an additional image located in the upper 64KB of the VBIOS.

For ASUS card you should use the ASUS bios.

Cross-flashing is never adviseable as there are often differences in the board design or layout.
Even a wrong memory configuration (e.g. Hynix AFR instead of MFR or <>) will cause the display driver to crash.

So maybe the best idea is to copy the gop partition from Asus 260X to my current bios dump of HD 7790?
Second question, did you modified the memory section in the provided bios to H5GQ2H24AFR 1GB because as far as I know this is the main difference. I simply do not want to brick my card ;)

Just try the bios I made.
Everything has been taken care of already.

Even in the worst case, if the bios fails completely you will be able to recover the card by flashing it using any another card for the display (as primary) or even blind.
There is no such thing as a perma-brick.
