So I recently bought a new kit of ram specifically for benchmarking. It's a pair of 2GB G.skill trident sticks with an XMP profile of 1600 8-8-8-24 1.6V. However I can't get into the BIOS I always end up with an error 53(memory initialization error) or because my post code readout is starting to fail I get no error code and no post. So my question is if the ram is dead or not because I should be able to get it to at the very least post regardless of whether or not it is supported. I tried the memory on the system in my specs.

I have 14 days to return the RAM with no questions asked.

does your board have a mem ok button? press that and see if it fixes it..
if not i would boot up with different ram, set the timings loose for the new ram, save and turn off. then try the new ram..
also is it ecc memory ? intell generally dont like to support ecc ram but amd usually will. so a lot more ram is now being sold as "desktop ram" when its really ecc server ram.

I use ECC ram. it is a fine X79 so no problems there.

The question is... how two sticks act in a quad channel board... never tried that with mine...

1: I don't have a mem OK button but I haven't tried booting with loose timings yet so I'll try that when I get the chance.
2: Nope just completely ordinary 2GB sticks of DDR3.
