Silverstone has been offering fanless PSUs for quite some time; however, they hadn’t released a relevant product for some years now, which changed recently as their Nightjar fanless series now includes the NJ520 with Platinum efficiency, a fully modular cabling design, and a promise of total silence.

Great review :)
Bit weird that they only give 3 years warranty.
The Coil Whine is a deal breaker for me, the reason to buy a fanless psu is to have perfect silence. I'd prefer some fan noise above coile whine then.

"Silverstone also says to have made sure the NJ520 is up to their standards of silence before giving production their go."
Not so very high standards then if they allow that coil whine.

when I meet a sample with coil whine I mention it (like I did in this review). Obviously none of the Corsair units I tested had coil whine else I would have mentioned it. They sell tons of units so I suspect that it is natural that some users will fall into trouble and of course they will complain on the net about it. On the contrary when something works ok you forget it and don't bother to write something about it (unless asked).

What is a night jar?
edit: a bird http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nightjar
Actually it refers to a jar kept under one's bed and used as a toilet during the night; also know as a chamber pot. Usually used in reference to farting, or other bad smells.
As the smell of Bob's fart slowly spread throughout the first class cabin, the passenger in the seat next to him said disgustedly, "who opened the night jar?" Either way, it's a terrible name for a power supply!
