Fuad has word that the upcoming K10 server processor codenamed Barcelona is 50 percent faster in specfp_rate2000 then Intel's quad core Kentsfield. As the CPU speed was not disclosed it will be near the stated 2.5GHz which applies for its fastest desktop counterpart, the Agena FX. The slowest Agena's will however start at 1.9GHz and will have the 95W TDP for sure.

Sounds good to me. I wish AMD would get rid of that dang 9.x.x multi. :ohwell: 10x should be their lowest, don't you think?

*shudders* Holy shit 50%? Um, no... this is like false stuff. Don't speculate until the company actually releases information. I honestly think rumors should not be allowed to be posted on the front page news... we are becoming less and less credible.

Please stop posting rumors. "For sure" is not good enough.

Yeah, I totally agree I mean "Fuad has word..."? What the hell is that? Not journalism. Speculation and rumor deserved no more than the forums.

I guess he knows better lol.. no point sticking with a company as many people have said here, ain the endall they care about is your money.. so they better pay up on their end in performance/price ratio.

go with whats best at the time your buying why be loyal to a company thats just after your wallet?

Don't know why we need this news. I want none of this stuff posted as its giving people false speculation. Look, in this attempt probably some brave fanboys made the information up, so they could lower Intel's sales. This happens too much, check Fudzilla's website,

http://www.fudzilla.com/

Most of the information is totally impossible to obtain, as AMD/ATI has stated (officially) that people/companies that have the R600/Barcelona in their hands as an ES are NOT by any means allowed to give any information out relating to the GPU. Like we need news from Fudzilla as 50% of their content is turned down as false, example when the 8600GTS was accidentally released in Australia, fudzilla stated "8600GTS released in Australia". Well as if, it just shows to you most of these websites giving us so called news are heavily reliant on unjustifiable sources (i.e. forums, or imagination).

Bastieeeh should be posting this in the General nonsense as it is nonsensical that the R600 kicks the 8800 and then the next minute it dies in 3DMark 06. Honestly, 3DMark 06 benchmark screens do not mean anything, even an untrained eye can spot out the artifacts of modding the GUI.

The news on TPU is supposed to be for official announcements of new products, new corporations, companies that have gone bankrupt, and forum issues-the news is not a place for tech-gossip, that goes under a different category. Honestly, look, if its not out yet and the source is not cited/contactable, its evident that it is not real-and it cant be considered "news". I will be surprised if we find an article about "R600 benchmarks with conflicting data-rendering them false", its common sense guys.

Now an analysis of the actual article:

Fifty percent faster than Kentsfield

The K10 part codenamed Barcelona is up and running. It's not ready for launch, but AMD has already got parts ready and working.

We don't have many numbers but at least in specfp_rate2000 Barcelona ends up a bit less than 50 percent faster than Intel quad core codenamed Kentsfield.

We are quite sure that this is the best score but it definitely sounds impressive. AMD chaps are very confident that K10 marchitecture and native Quad core is the way to go and Intel will probably have to pay the price for duct taping its chips. AMD will come to collect in second half of 2007.

"We are quite sure" gives away the fact that they arent confident with what they are saying. There is no source cited and the end of it also uses information previously and officially presented. Nevertheless to make it seem more realistic, its instinct to believe something when there is the image of what the people are talking about. And... what score? 50%? Thats like the most important information Intel needs to beat the crap out of AMD, I'm sure no average joe would realise but, very rarely do companies allow such sensitive benchmarks of products before they hit the market. Its literal suicide!
I mean look, if AMD really had such an advantage (we hope so though), Intel would try to beat this, thus upon release of Barcelone AMD’s advantage is nullified.

The lack of sources, illogical information presentation and the fact that AMD has rules regarding to products in development truly makes all this information FUD; i.e. bullshit.

Very well put, couldnt agree more. :rockout:

I totally agree that we shouldn't have links to sites that post rubbish news (thew majority of the time)... in the news section, but thats totally up to the tpu admin.

The inquirer is gold compared to this data we been getting.

Real news would be

"Dell has decided to sell "Budget Gamer" packages, almost half the price but double the peformance of the normal packages, it is an unprecedented move made by Dell upon their press conference, the has:

-Core 2 Duo E4300
-Secondary PCI-E Slot for SLI/Crossfire (Customised chipset)
-2x512MB or 1GB DDRII 667
-400W PC and Power cooling power supply
-ATI X1650XT (ensuring 100% reliability)
-200GB SATAII HDD
-Combo Drive.

This package is approximately $999AUD and includes a 22 inch LCD monitor as well as a sound system and mouse and keyboard.

Source: Dell"

I would love Dell if they actually did something like that. but note how the source is from the actual thing that they are talking about not some third party source.

Then we would comment "Holy shit cheap", "Man... is that dell for real?" im not a dell phreak btw. I just like them for one reason; BTX. (Since i got an acceleroX2 T_T)

I guess they mean "duct-taped" as in: Two dies with two cores each instead of one die with four cores aka "true quadcore".

Also, the question is whether specfp_rate2000 is even relevant to gaymers or normal users. Maybe it's just some math calculus which is never really needed. :)

SPECfp_rate2000: The geometric mean of fourteen normalized throughput ratios when compiled with aggressive optimization for each benchmark.

Source: http://www.spec.org/cpu2000/docs/readme1st.html#Q13

A single user running a compute-intensive integer program, for example, might only be interested in SPECint2000 or SPECint_base2000. On the other hand, a person who maintains a machine used by multiple scientists running floating point simulations might be more concerned with SPECfp_rate2000 or SPECfp_rate_base2000.

I would think no news is better, ofc I'm fairly interested/excited if I see something saying r600 results... but than for it to be crap sucks and brings the creditability of the site down for posting "spam".

I come here more for trustworthy reviews, info on fixing computer, checking out case mods and the many more good things the site already has to offer.

Wanting to see true results I guess is some of our problems lol thats why I click on these topics with shady reviews/info.

Some of its ok but its becoming a daily occurrence. This site has alot of other things to offer and when I could click on the news and get solid facts it was nice and not a waste of my time.

But yeah this is up to the mods/admin to figure out so I just wont be posting in threads that I dislike anymore.

Edit: This stuff should be put in the general nonsense area as TK said.

If it its not true nor false, it doesnt even deserve to be posted anywhere. Its a fact, you cant post unjustifiable information, if AMD goes psycho they might even sue us for "defacing them". Think about it...

I have to agree, that last thing with the 8600 geforce that wasn't even an nvidia card just made us look dumb, we shouldn't post "what ifs" as if it's front page or we'll be like the enquirer, fun to look at, but no one takes it seriously..

Benchmark Scores It does boot up? I think.
Sure, Barcelona could very well be 50% faster in Specfp_2000 than Kenstfield. Less than 50% would infact be dissapointing for currently available Athlon64 X2 scores 20% higher than Conroe in Specfp_2000.

Just what exactly do you mean by that...lol....

I have to agree with most everyone else here...Seems that TPU is becoming more like a newspaper tabloid..gossip gossip gossip...i think most all these r600 and Barcelona "news worthy" stories should be left where they were found...this is not news, its crap...like the r600 3DM06 scores...i can make stuff up to if anyone wants another story to post here...

NOTHING and i mean NOTHING is true until it is released.....so far that hasn't happened....:rockout:

EDIT: Funny that everyone is comparing the new AMD's to the old C2D's...its like comparing the g80 to the r520 or something...I would hope that AMD's technology, released well over a year after C2D, would beat or at least compete with the C2D's...why would anyone expect that not to be.....this should be no surprise...but to compare new technology with older is dumb...amd will have a release soon, and you can damn sure bet intel won't sit and watch them again...
