GTX770, help me find good graphics card.

Hello good people. I need little of your time to help me choose good graphics card. After sudden death of my gtx460 need to find worthy successor. Initial plan was to get Gigabyte GV-N770WF3-2GD, but i'm little scared because my GTX460 was also from Gigabyte and it had very short lifespan - only 3 years. So now I don't trust Gigabyte anymore. Any good graphics card manufacturers you can recommend? Or maybe some good graphics card with GTX770 GPU? Looking for better lifespan and good cooling solution, not planning to overclock and please don't offer factory overclocked cards - not looking for minor performance increase with significantly reduced lifespan. Just need good quality card (with GTX770 GPU) with good cooling solution.

Also small question - for GTX770 recommended PSU is 600W, I have Corsair PSU 600W, will it be enough? My system specs are in system specs tab

Another question - 2GB or 4GB vram? Will 2GB be enough for games to play on maximum graphics settings with resolution 1920x1080 or should I go with 4GB? No planning to use more that 1 monitor. Would not ask this question if 4GB version wouldn't be more expensive, so far enough money for 2GB versions only. But in few weeks could afford to get 4GB version but not sure if 4GB will make big difference.

Your current PSU won't have a problem with a GTX 770

2 GB of RAM will be enough VRAM for 1080p for a while, but if you want to make sure your new cards performance gives you the longest possible life span, go for a 4 GB model.

The Gigabyte is less money, the MSI looks good and EVGA has the most options.

I think all perform well so my decision would be based on warranty.

While researching noticed 1 thing - GTX770 is not so far ahead of GTX760 performance wise. Is it really worth to get GTX770 instead of GTX760? I mean GTX760 is only a little weaker but much more cheaper. I'm confused, my head hurts and I'm again not sure what should I get. What do you think - is GTX770 really worth the price? In our local store GTX760 is $250-$280 and GTX770 - $380-$440, quiet big price difference.

More CUDA cores in the 770 over the 760. 1536 v 1152.
760 same price range as 460 1GB model when new. If you are looking to spend about the same.
When you talk about the 770 going for $440 that's why I picked 780 for a few more $$.
The mid range price point didn't make sense for the $.
If your budget is ok with $280 then stay in that range.
Money is a tool. Life may require that you save for better opportunities.
Don't overspend because you feel you have to keep up with others.
If the 760 does what you need, then get that.

The GTX 770 has about 21% more performance than the 760

No. It normally just means the PCB has been modified (often this reallt means "made cheaper to manufactuer") in some way, the core is a newer revsion or possibly just a different cooler (think VTX 290 - X edition Rev 1 & 2 - the only difference being the cooler).

It can mean anything. Do you remember the V2 versions of the GTX 460?(what model is your GTX 460?)

No, with graphics cards it usually means they changed the RAM they were using on the card, usually to a different manufacturer with slightly different specs.

OP, you can try to find a new/used 680 [equivalent to 770]. It will be less money but better than a cut down 760.

money is not a problem as far as it is worth it. I just don't want to owerpay for something that is not woth it's price.

Well it depends in the end if you want to spend a bit more for more performance and longer lasting performance versus being good for now.

If you want my advice, if you want a GTX 770, stick with the 2gb models unless you can get a 4gb for barely more because in most cases I see the extra 50 bucks is almost a waste because at that point you can jump up to an R9 290 video card with 4gb of VRAM and a more powerful GPU.

If you are just gaming on a normal 1080p 60hz monitor, you will be fine getting either card but the GTX 770 will definitely give you a longer life span for gaming at the higher settings.

It will also depend where you order from because some places have odd pricing for certain parts (Or computer parts in general). I see your in Latvia so I would think you can order from amazon so ill give you my advice based on what I see from there.

The Cheapest 4gb GTX 770 I see is this one for 271 and at that point I would definitely say spend 10 more and just grab a 290 for better performance and longer lasting.

Thats fine, no harm in having a preference, I was just saying based on the prices it would not be the best value to invest in a 4gb GTX 770 unless you want to SLI them at a resolution of 1440p+.

For 1080p yes more games are coming out using more and more VRAM, but the difference you would notice with a 4gb GTX 770 (Single) on a 1080p would be negligible at best. It would be more wise to invest in a very nice GTX 770 that is highly clocked and contains 2gb as the price difference is very noticeable and the performance differences do not really help in almost all scenarios with a single GPU.

Decided to give Gigabyte another chance and will go with either GV-N770WF3-2GD or GV-N770WF3-4GD. Now need to decide if I really need those 4GB of vram.

The Windforce 3 fans do a good job cooling the card. If you're gaming at 1080p 2gb is good and 4gb will not future proof at all for that resolution.

4 GB would be a waste of money, don't go for it if you don't plan on getting 1440p/4K display.
Gigabyte Windforce 3X is just amazingly quiet and cool, but if you can find something like EVGA ACX or Palit Jetstream that would cost you at least few bucks less, consider buying them, they're just as good. Even the cheapest non-reference solution (from Zotac) is OK in terms of temperatures and OC potential, so you really have a great pool of offers here.
Again, if you're willing to spend the amount of money that is significantly bigger than cost of GTX 770 2GB and you still don't want to get into GTX 780 price range, Radeon R9 290 is beast. I mean, it costs just as much as GTX 770 4GB, yet it's much faster and is built on newer silicon. Why not give it a try, might be your thing after all?.. Would be a great way to bury the hatchet with AMD.

yeah, got myself 2GB version, took price difference and added some money and got myself sweet new monitor too. Goodbye 720p... hello crystal clear 1080p Will be hard to get used to new monitor and resolution. Have been gaming on my 17" with 1280x1024 for almost 10 years.
