I have the original Metro 2033 and like the game a lot. I also own and like Last Light, possibly even more than 2033. However I looked at some videos and comparison between Metro 2033 Original and Metro 2033 Redux and I liked the way the original looked more than the redux, not sure why.

LL Redux or 2033 Redux. The difference with 2033 Redux is a lot more compared to 2033 to what LL Redux is too original LL.

I felt the same when I watched comparison videos, but after getting the game I started to like the new enhanced graphics. 2033 Redux even performs better on my system than the original, in spite of the extra eye candy! Kudos to 4A Games.

Meh, been playing 2033 Redux and despite plenty playable frame rates I get annoying little stutters going on that's mostly audio and mostly when enemy AI is alerted, just like one of the threads about it on the Steam forums says.

At first I thought it might have been my being on an AMD GPU, but people on Nvidia over there are complaining of it too, including even those with high end cards. I have the first patch and it fixes the intro crash fine, but it seems they were asleep when testing overall performance.

Great graphics compared to original 2033, and I like having the LL gameplay options, but as is I just can't enjoy this. I'm running no AA or VSync and I even have all my CPU cores unparked. I was going to look for an update on my Realtek onboard HD Audio, but I doubt that's it.

Just an update on performance issues. I found out disabling HyperThreading eliminates the stuttering I was having. I normally don't run it, but I'd enabled it recently to do some video encoding. Coincidentally the complaints about it on Steam revolve primarily around i7 owners as well.

Strange. I don't have any stuttering to speak of. HT is on and I run it @ 5670x1080, everything maxed out except for SSAO (disabled) @ 30-40 FPS, while the FPS is not perfect, it still plays fairly smooth. Thank God. :D

It probably matters what model of CPU you have. Mine's an older Nehalem (i7 950).

There's too many other factors to nail it down yet. Could be just that you're running W8, which is said to be more streamlined and slightly smoother for gaming. Been meaning to try it, just haven't got around to it.
