BF4 causes endless TDR's

so lets see steevo.... ive spent weeks at this... testing every piece of hardware with knowledge, certified testing equip...... you know what. forget it.


not going to bow to your trolling. ive eliminated every hardware possibility through testing with software and hardware tests. but i guess your god and im a monkey. not thanks to any of your ass-breath spewing from the mouth i solved it with natr0n's suggestion. TY Natr0n
try changing the tdrtime out to like 5

the medium settings may actually be the kicker here. thus proving its software. just played 7 rounds straight.... looks fugly as anything... gonna have to work on figuring out why High preset, trips the cards but no excessive GPU load is present on high...

eidairaman1 - ram is not the issue, memtest 86 ran 5 passes with no errors.

don't bother its not gonna do anything for you
you REALLY need to follow the links I posted and adjust the TDRDELAY I am 90% sure if you raise the timeout the issue will go away
whats most likely happening is that BF4 is causing the gpu to stall and windows is interpreting this as a crash and is resetting the driver on you generally speaking a bad VRAM doesn't cause a TDR a TDR is generally invoked from a software problem

been viewing for the longest, this was actually my first post. i have GPU-Z. and actually update:

TDR just happened. after 59 minutes. i bumped the TDRDelay to 10 like Moar's will report back.

id like to know whats causing the driver to drop a thread for 10 seconds must be some odd software conflict
if you are using anything like a ts3 overlay or fraps or dxtory uninstall/disable it

no overlays, TS is running, but overwolf is disabled and actually not even installed. no FRAPS, dont like fraps. i have no idea what did it this time. my temps are always right around 61-64 C both cards, never spiking 64-70% usage. just WEIRD!!

Try VMT or the Cuda tester again with the load test from GPU-Z or Furmark running also so it stresses the core.


Or just RMA the card.

Hello @CapStar362 Although I have nothing to add to solve your issue,( Even thou I have had it happen a few times it tended to fix itself for different reasons I can't recal.) Let me say welcome to . I am sure that we all agree this is the best place to hang your hat for many things, tech and non tech topics alike. I have had nothing but a fantastic time belonging to the site and have learned a bucket load of info from the amazing folks here. I am sure you will become a great addition to the team. Some of the members do have a touch of sarcasem in their humor but for the most case it helps to lighten the mood when were stressed about wth is going on with our rigs. @Tatty_One was right in his comment about taking the humor with a grain of salt. Just throwing this out there but have you swapped out your PSU or tested it? Granted if it were a serious PSU issue you might have more sporadic issues BUT all it takes is a lil inconsistency in the line to the GPU and you might have a repeatable problem.

Personally I think this is a software issue. I would do the following.

1. Do a clean install. Not a reimage. Not an upgrade. I complete format and install from a disk.
2. Install the drivers that came with your Mobo.
3. Install the latest GPU drivers.
4. Install all Windows Updates.
5. Install only BF4. Not Chrome or your favorite media player. Just BF4. Run it for a few hours. If you don't have any issues then I would slowly add software to your system. As you add software test BF4. This will widdle down the culprit.

Also I know you may not want to hear this but BF4 loves Windows 8.1. Something to chew on. If it runs ok in Windows 8.1 you can pretty much knock it down to software conflict.

I would say MOST issues are with software. So adjusting voltages and hard testing RAM can lead to other NEW unrelated issues. Always start with software. Messing with the hardware to begin with is like rewiring the house because you have a leaky faucet.

I don't think a full format is needed but upgrading the 8.1 couldn't hurt
upgrading to 8 from 7 is basically a clean install the only things saved are in the %user% folder

Which could have a corrupt config file. Clean install is the only way to fly in this case.
