I5 3570k 4.5 ghz idle temps

What is the idle (or almost) temps for a i5 3570k oc at 4.5ghz (all cores) and 1.240 vcore, i am using a Phanteks PH-TC14E i do get temps about 45-50 sometimes for a sec about 55 degress and i think it's a bit to high (power saving mode disabled so i know it surpose to go in the 40's).

When i do a bench test it only goes up to 80-84 not that bad since i am waitnig for a working y splitter to get it to get my cpu cooler fans to spin at same rpm and i have seen the limited to be 105 degress,98 it throttles and 90 or less is a safe temp.

Id say 80'c+ is a little on the hot side but then again you have an non-delidded ivy bridge CPU, so id go as far as saying those temps are probably pretty legit given the crap thermal paste Intel use & the ambient temps inside the case.

Or get a seriously good aircooler. My 3770K idles at 28-35, and under full load the cores vary between 50 and 58!

About the same here @ 4.7 on water, low 50s max load.

OP - the method you use for overclocking will determine the core speeds at idle, and that will make all the difference. It looks like they're running at full bore according to CPUz.

Seems a little bit high to me, seeing as his cooler is a pretty good one at that.

I'd remount the cooler with some quality paste and see if that helps any.

Looking at the VCCSA it seems a little high. I'm at 0.823 I think, and that's about as high as I'd want it. Not sure about VTT or PCH...I'm trying to remember what my setttings are.

OP: I assume you've made sure you can't go any lower on core voltage? Other than that, try removing the cooler and TIM, re-paste and reseat cooler as @XL-R8R suggests.

Looking at the VCCSA it seems a little high.

It could be lock step with the idle core speed. The multiplier should drop to 16 under "no-load" and voltage should drop too.

For me, at 4.5 3770k (still lidded), I idle at 25-30*C and load temperatures are around 80*C prime 95. Gaming SC2/BF4 gets around 55-60*C. Sitting idle in Windows will usually result in very brief instances of 40-50*C. I use the same voltage as you for a stable 4.5 on air. Similar cooler (PHTC12DX with 120x38 push pulls).

I'd reseat the cooler. What thermal paste are you using? the Phanteks? If you are using the Phanteks paste I recommend a straight line of paste down the center (2 grains of rice in a row), no more no less. Press down tight and even so it spreads out the sides. The paste will be directly over the die and spread out to the sides.

Also do you have an engineering sample?

@gasolin: Do you have turbo disabled in addition to all power-saving turned off like you said? That all explains the higher idle frequency. But even so, it seems to be running a little warm. My suspicion is cooler really may just need to be reseated.

Yea, it's either delid time, or re-seat the cooler. That is one massive heatsink.

Now to all your questions (not shure if i answer all your questions). I am not shure that i have gotten any notification mail so therfore a bit late response

Turbo is enabled at 4.5ghz, my cpu runs at 4.5ghz all the time on all cores, no speedstep, no speed (mhz) that goes up and down all the time.

I use artic cooler mx-2 thermal paste.

I don't know how many can have temps below 25 degress even with speedstep enabled with a i5 3570k at 4.5ghz 1.240 vcore using an air cooler(i don't want a loud cpu cooler at low load).

I can have vcore a bit lower mabye 1.230 but i choose 1.240 vcore becuase the freeze test in ibt wasn't moving as smooth as i would like doing maximum stress level

In my bios i can set cpu fans to full on or aut based on temps where lowest temps are 45 degress, that means my bios,mb will let the temps on the cpu go up to 45 or higher (if i set it to a higher temp), then i can set speed at 1 silent mode or 10 where it more agressive goes up in rpm if temps get's to high, have it at 2 and atm temps are about 42-50, my cpu is used between 8 and 20%.

In Denmark theres something called cashback https://toptechcashback.com/dk/da/pages/cashback/qualifying where we can buy a mb + k cpu (the cheap anniversary pentium edtion, i5 and i7) and get up to 77 $,60€ back. Getting a Z97 mb and a i7 4790k would cost me no more then what a i5 4690k costs (if i sell my mb and cpu) or what a 500gb samsung evo costs.

According to tpu theres little difference between a i5 3570k and a i7 3770 in games, even a i5 3570k at 4.5ghz is only equal (not a big difference) in speed to a stock i7 3770k http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Intel/Core_i5_3570K_and_i7_3770K_Comparison/4.html (and the next few pages).

So that's what i consider buying
