Hello. I'm on my new x99 PC with a fresh copy of Win7 (64 bit). And every once and a while at random intervals my mouse will stop and become uncontrolable for a second or two then continue as normal. All other processes appear to keep running during this brief freeze.

Mouse: Razer Deathadder 2013 edition.

Yeah it's in a USB3 port. Shouldn't be a problem as the ports support both 3.0 and 2.0.

Also I just realised I'm running Win7 default drivers. So I'm downloading that stupid synapse crap because I have no choice to get the driver.

It is a problem... USB3 is crappy for those tasks and causes exactly such problems. Tested numerous times and many controllers.

I've installed the drivers... All good so far. Apparently the x99 has some input device issues fixed in the latest BIOS update. But that's for the keyboard I think.

Maybe native USB3 controller based mice might change that, but haven't seen any yet.

And your X99 mobo for sure has a LCD post-code display, and it says "AO" which means IDE devices loaded, even if it has no IDE devices at all.... Evolution is so slow it is desperating...

USB3 does not play nice with Win7 (natively), you'll have better luck installing Win8.1/Win9 (when it's released).

Have you oc'ed that 5930k yet?

I recently purchased a Steel Series Sensei (Diablo3 edition), and get a similar malfunction to what You describe...the cursor stop reacting, and "wiggles" quickly, or "convulses" for a second or two, then returns to Normal.I really HOPE that the USB3 issue that was posted as a reply to The OP's original query will solve this, because I had never heard of that being a problem until 2 minutes ago when I read it here O_O .

Thank You in advance.

On Win7, none of my peripherals worked properly in USB 3.0 ports. My Corsair K95 doesn't work at all in any USB 3.0 ports on my motherboard, regardless of driver updates and firmware.

Just for sharing, here on this Maximus 7 Gene, all USB3 work (if we do not count a wireless mouse lag once a day). (Windows 8.1 using Intel USB3 drivers for Win7)
So after all, it is not so dumb to leave some USB2 ports on the latest mobos.... :p

I updated the Firmware and drivers using the Synapse program provided by Razer and there's a significant reduction in the stutters. But it happens from time to time. Also happens when writing data to the SSD.

If you are still running Win7 with USB3 then retread my post. No amount of workaround drivers or bios updates will fix 100% what isn't supported natively. Try Win8 and watch all your USB lag issues disappear. One exception that pos software from razer will always cause issues.

May I suggest that if your mouse has lag or isnt functioning properly, you promptly feed it to a pet snake or at the very least, flush it down the toilet.

I hear the Mouse Union is calling for more strikes, also, so watch out in the near future.... not happy with all the long hours and abuse from pr0n I suppose. :twitch::twitch:

bruhh...
1. wireless for gaming is crappy to begin with "laugh:
2. X99 has been released before it was actually successfully tested. (intel and asus were becoming too impatient from not being able to rip people off)
3. Yes USB 3.0 may cause problems but worse is why on earth waste that much bandwidth on a input device.
4. Razer is really bad for issues like these. Some are good true... but liek kitty said, logitech Q.E.D.
