Welp got the Mustang racing variant from AMD. Had an old game bundle code that expired in April and they updated it for me to the never settled space bundle (to be fair the code I had was meant to have expired before I bought my 290X but still nice of them to fix it for me)

Here's the Mustang racing version - there will be more than the AMD version but anyone with an AMD game bundle code could grab one of these and an Arena Commander pass:

So, I'm all of a sudden horrible at flying with the Xbox controller. I'm using a Logitech Extreme 3D pro now and much better! Oh! We can do private matches now! All that needs to be done is someone start a match, write the key down and give it to other people to join. I'll be in teamspeak if you guys want to race or whatever.

I'm downloading the patch now. Does it have keybindings yet? Or does anyone have a setup for a Saitek ST290 Pro? When I turn right or left it rotates.. I need to work on that editor, but I haven't had time...

In StarCitizen>CitizenClient there will be a user.cfg file. (if it's not there, make one) in there put: pp_rebindkeys layout_joystick_spacesim and it will switch twist to rotate. Also, throw r_motionblur 0 in there for good measure, lol.

Bindable keys is coming in the next update I think.

Liking the new speeds (inc the new turbo mechanic) in the game and the M50 and 350R are great to fly in! New hangars look great and my Aquila Constellation is not a pile of rusty rubbish.

Saying that they have removed the option to disable motion blur, which means I now feel sick after walking around my hangar. Hopefully this is a bug or oversight and not a design decision like the lense flares are...

r_motionBlur 0 didn't work for me in user.cfg sadly. Bindable keys are definitely due in next update.

Heh, I wish it was a model kit! It's an in game ship to be playable. I'm not sure if you get the actual game though, the fine print is a little uh.. fuzzy.

The AMD package gives you the in-game ship and access to the Arena Commander module which is the current dogfighting/racing mode. It does not give you the full game, nor does it give you access to other alpha/beta parts of the game.

You'll eventually want to buy at least one game package. Subscriptions aren't required, nor will they be needed when the game finally launches in over a year. You've got plenty of time to watch and wait, but if you want to pull the trigger now you can do so for fairly cheap with the Arena Commander starter package that includes the game and an Aurora ship. Any ships sold now will be available in game for credits earned in game, so don't feel like you have to buy everything in advance.

Do you have an idea what you want to do with it? Each version has a different emphasis on a certain role. The base model has excellent versatility. The DUR trades a little cargo space for range and sensors. The MAX trades weapons for more cargo capacity. You won't be trapped if you buy anything now though. There are upgrades available to change from one model to the next, cross platform upgrades to change from one ship to a completely different one and you can always melt your purchase down for credits to buy something entirely different if you so choose so later on.

So, I've been practicing racing. Previously the best times I could get would be around 1:20 for a lap. Now, I've shaved about 10 seconds. The key is to make sure your turns are left and right using yaw and not rotating and turning using pitch. This way, you redout/blackout way less and are able to do much sharper turns.

So, I dl'd all the patches last night and was able to play a bit.. and now today when I logged in I'm downloading patches again? Anybody else get this as well?

EDIT: But... I'm downloading at 27.34/s... So, it's almost complete, but it was 2 patches one was around a gig and the other was the full 14gb..

It's patch 13.0.1 - they've had to disable private matches because of a bug with a server not switching to public match mode after being used in a private match and I suspect they're smuggling in some new stuff as well due to the size of the damned thing. They're also fixing checkpoint 17 in the hard race mode setting which may mean a lot of map data needing to be sent.
