NAS server for backup and music/videos

Looking for a nas server something like the wd cloud 3-4 tb mabye the my could mirror for music videos and backup of pictures,setting of my games and wmp play list (have alot of them) when i read about the old wd my book live i see it's only 10mbps and even if they say in the review it's fast i can't imagine i could use it for playing videos,film on my pc,phone or tv, because i think there would be a delay from when i press play and a video starts playing, also max speed is 10mbps, is that enought for hd/full hd videos and losless music?

I would use it for backup and to play videos,music and watch pictures any where on any smartphone,tv,pc i own

Id go for an entry level Synology or QNAP NAS if your needs arent too demanding... If you got a few hard drives spare you could also go for a HP Proliant Microserver which is CHEAPER & more powerful than a budget NAS from synology or QNAP but lacks OS & is slightly bigger as it can hold up to 4-5HDDs

I was simply going to recommend upgrading his router and adding in one with NAS capability such as an rtn66u. Only $100 with USB 3.0 and speeds are good / much better than 10. You can also do two drives however the 2nd drive would be limited to USB 2.0 / but still faster than several older NAS systems and you would have some redundancy with the 2nd as a backup.

The lacie cloudbox 4tb https://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?id=10597 i can have very cheap where the Synology Synology DS115j and a 2 tb wd red cost me almost 50% more but unfortuanally lacie dosn't support android(note 3).


Stofa my internet provider say dynamisk IP and the nas server must support it

Honestly if you can find a old Core2Duo system with a GIG port, it would be worth just adding in the drives you want and running freeNAS. This would net you better transfer speeds than that unit.
