Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 POST Issues

Alright TPU I have a weird one, at least for me for you all.

My friend has the above mentioned motherboard and has been using it for about a year. He has been having random issues with freezing and locking up that just seemed to come and go. Within the past week something has happened that has made the computer unusable. When you turned on the machine initially it just froze at the BIOS Splash screen, then after a bit it stopped getting video signal. I am in the process of troubleshooting and have stripped the machine down to the bare essentials.

I have the mobo sitting on a mobo box with just the CPU/Heatsink attached with a chassis speaker. When I power on the system WITHOUT RAM, it does not beep, the fan just spins.... When I insert two sticks of RAM into the motherboard it does not matter what slots, I get two beeps from the motherboard. Given there isn't that usual nonstop beeping without RAM, I am thinking the motherboard is having initialization issues and might be faulty. Any other thoughts? I am going to be testing the RAM and video card in another box just to make sure it isn't them.

RAM is 2x4GB Kingston HyperX Genesis.... the VGA is an EVGA 460 GTX, Power supply is a 600W Thermaltake PurePower 600.

It sounds like the main bios has been corrupted somehow or a possible hardware failure. If you find that all parts are OK there is a last resort to force the backup bios to boot the board if the main is corrupt. Anything like this is do at your own risk since it involves shorting bios chip pins it's possible to mess things up. Or simply RMA the board. Basic question - Did you clear the bios using the jumper or pulling out the CMOS battery? Make sure the PSU is disconnected from power outlet.

I pulled the battery from the board, there is a CLR_CMOS jumper with two pins but I do not have a spare jump handy, who knew those IDE drive jumpers would've been handy had I held onto them. I am about to goto work so I will have to attempt to clear the CMOS again and possibly see if I have a jumper laying around on an old drive.

I tried both the battery method and jumper, it doesn't help at all

I am going to try that BIOS bypass later tonight and try to get the backup going and recover the main

test with another power supply
doesn't sound like a bios fault to me sounds like either the psu or the board is crapping out
according to the manual for that board continuous short beeps mean a power issue

i have the freakin same board...,i hope that shit dont hapen to me for some time...,i saving money for psu and gpu!! maybe after that get some great 990fx board
right now i have beta bios on this one and fx 8320 work fine!!i do have some isues with oc but i think its psu problem and not board,but in next few days im upgrading psu,then i will know for sure!
i hope u figure out the problem man!!

Psu,ram or board. My Grandfather had a 1st gen APU gigabyte board and the ram took a crap and would stop the mobo from going beyond bios or would fail to show video, this was new ram too(bundle pack with mobo and apu) as soon as he got new ram the problems stopped.

Alrighty an update. I tested the RAM and video card in another board. First off, the video card is bad, it does not display video on either board. I purchased a 610 just to test and get a POST. Ram MEMTEST on both boards, the AMD and Intel, and everything passes just fine. I am thinking it is just the video card. I might get my friend to get a new power supply too just to be safe. Can't really load the PSU up right now without an appropriate card.
