Unfortunately I am very worried about what happened to movies will happen to games....
I honestly can't stand when females bock about the highly sexual nature of women in a lot of games....That seems to say to me maybe its not for you (so mind your own business and move along sweet tits)
The games females play are horrifically boring to me...not all females of course just the overwhelming majority...

She actually says its not sexist but rather geared towards males...because most guys enjoy the female form...speaking of the games geared towards males....there is more insightful opinions given in the video...thus the shock from us dumb gamers.....Prick, You know I miss you....

When we say "Gamers" we do realise that 52% of all "Gamers" are women right? The trope that all gamers are 15 year old teenage white boys playing Carl on Duty is a falsification. And frankly, all games designed for that demographic are entirely sexist. Take one look at a game like LoL and it irritates the hell out of me. Pretty distasteful female proportions, and of course that ridiculous armor. Most games are guilty of it, but not all. Generally the ones designed for other demographics are far more conservative.

All in all I agree with most women on this massive issue. It's something that's bugged me for years, and I don't find it necessary to oversexualize females in games. It takes away from the game and adds nothing for me. I'd rather have realistic women and realistic armor in all fantasy games, it certainly wouldn't upset me. Not to mention it would be nice for a female character in any game to actually have some form of personality. We need more Brienne of Tarth's frankly.

Most of the reason this issue has become so sensitive is because a bunch of keyboard warriors from 4chan decided to make empty angsty edgy teenage boy threats.

That's the entire point. Saying you don't care does not solve the issue, because other people care. Just because one thing doesn't affect you doesn't mean it's fine for everybody else. People aren't asking for their opinions to be oppressed onto you, merely for developers to take their opinions into account instead of blindly oversexualising games and offending most of the female gamers. I imagine if you were female you'd feel quite differently, but you're not, so it's hard for you to understand.

Very nice and although still opinionated, her conclusion I think is the correct one.
I think a big chunk of why gamers are generally so tolerant is because gaming often puts you in someone else's shoes, forcing you to deal with certain aspects of life(even if it isn't your own).

She definitely has the point, and it even applies to areas of our culture outside video games.
Most of public activists or "social rebels" do their thing and criticize everything to perpetually support their cause, even when the problem is long gone.

I refuse to believe that 52% of people titling themselves as a "gamer" is a woman.

And I think it's a bit more than 4chan being 4chan. Look at the stuff people throw at that Anita Sarke..something person. Read the comments on this article, those are not 4chan-tards. Levelheaded, sane people go absolutely batshit as soon as anything related to it is brought up. What is normally refered to as "gamer culture" have sexism and racism in spades... There are safe havens and good people everywhere, but they are drowned out by the 12 year olds and the people with the mental capacity of 12-year olds (which in my book covers everyone enojying Mass Effect, but that's a different topic entirely ).

And if it's true that 52% of gamers are women, why are most games still geared towards men? "Sex sells" sure, but that is a reflection of how people see things. Bioware treats relationships as minigames and wanksims, and it contributes to the bigger problem: Women as objects, nothing more than an ass to look at and tits to grab. It has many facets, gaming is but one of the problems.

... and you don't see the problem with this? Did you know that sexual disfunction among young, healty, males is on the rise, probably because of pornography? When the default female model in every form of entertainment is basically a sex fantasy perceptions will be skewed, expectations unrealistic. Even robots have vaginas to plow.

"Gamers" covers anyone that play games on any device, so facebook, mobile and tablet etc. According to the study, 52% of all people that played games (this includes crap like candy crush, flappy bird and bejewelled) were women. I for one can believe it, because I work in an all girls grammar school. Most of them play games on their phones religiously, and some of them even program their own games in lessons. I'm not talking Scratch, I mean actual Indie style game development.

Also it's refreshing to see someone with sensible things to add to an otherwise shitstorm of a situation.

I used to be one of those people when I was a teenager. Anyone who wasn't a PC gamer wasn't a gamer in my eyes. We can only hope these angsty kids that are making the mass exclamations will grow up and accept people as they are.

I don't think it has anything to do with pornography and everything to do with society's negative view of sex. Kids are going to look at it, they are going to find it. Adults like to pretend they don't, so instead of talking to their kids about it, they ignore it. They don't tell their kids why the stereotypes they see in porn, or what they see, isn't an accurate reflection of how real relationships, or real sexuality works. Pornography is all about satisfying fantasies because porn is a fantasy. So, if you're not educating kids, or showing them proper interaction and relationship, they're going to absorb what they see.

Not to mention it seems like media is becoming more and more about the lowest common demoninator.

I'm not young...I'm also married with 2 kids...daughters.
Men are visual..its in our nature...Women use that to lure us in and trap us into a partnership...Both sexes are "objectified" and its a wonderful thing.

I never said you were young. I imagine if you asked your wife and daughters if they wanted to be objectified throughout their entire life, and how they feel about the skinty clad women in video games, they would likely have entirely different views. And for what it's worth, not all men are that shallow either If you feel trapped in your relationship, you're either in the wrong relationship, or you shouldn't be in one.

You also can't possibly represent women's views as a whole, so you're opinion on what women are like, what they do and how they feel is only covering one group of many, as is mine. The important thing to remember here is there are many groups with many views, and we should listen to them all.
