Hi there, building a new gaming PC and wanting it to last. Need some advice

Case: Corsair Carbide Air 540
CPU: Intel i7-5830k
MB: Asus X99-Deluxe
GPU: Asus Stirix GTX 970 2x SLI
GPU option 2: Asus GTX 980 (Non sli)
Ram: G.Skill 16 GB DDR4-2400
SSD: Samsung 840 Evo 250GB
HD: WD Caviar Black 2TB 6GB/S
PSU: Corsair RM850 80 Gold Plus
Sound card: Creative Sound Blaster Z
OS: Windows 8.1 64bit
Monintor: ASUS 24" Gaming Monitor VG248QE

I'll be gaming at 1080p all the time, I stream I play a lot. I want the PC to be future proof through 2015 with highest FPS on ultra-ish settings.
Please some help or commendments on the build, thanks all.

Audio Device(s) Bang & Olufsen
Power Supply 230W
Mouse Roccat Kone XTD+
Software Win 10 Pro
Samsung EVO used to be my go to SSD. Unfortunately due to the old data slowdown bug with them that has only just recently come to light, I recommend the Crucial MX100 512GB instead. Same price, more storage, no slowdown.

Also 970 SLI will be faster than 980 single, obviously. Just beware of SLI support in random titles.

If you were gaming on a 1920x1980p monitor would you opt for a GTX 980 or a GTX 970 sli? With a 200 euro difference in the 970 sli being more.

1080p? 980.
970 SLI is pointless for anything less than 1440p.

AS such, the 850W PSU is irrelevant. With that kind of setup, 650W PSU would suffice with no issue. 850W would be more for multi GPU setups.

I just don't want to fork out 599 euros on 1x GTX 980 and have, say, games come out during november and have les than 60 FPS. Possible?

Possible? Yes, take a look at Crysis 3, people can barely run that at 60FPS. Probable? I doubt it. The current gen of consoles has set the bar rather low in terms of graphical fidelity.

So, 1x GTX 980 and a 650 RM Corsair is good you reckon? Does everything else look fine, no possible problems, everything will work with each other?

It all looks fine and dandy to me :) I can run SLI on a 650W PSU as it stands, so the option is there for you.
Perhaps the WD Black HDD is overkill, but then we wouldn't call this "ultimate" for no reason would we?

That build costs me 2500 euros, too much?

Truthfully? Yes. Total overkill.
If you got the money to splash, why not?

Other members will gladly spec you a PC that costs far less and still play games like a champ. Are you open to non 2011v3 suggestions?

Not really, just wanting it to be the current "gen" you know? Something that's new and I wont have to upgrade next time something comes out. I just want it to last a bit. Maybe next year add another 980 and get a 1440p monitor

If you're happy with how it looks, then there's no problem.

I'll merely mention that an i7 + Z97 + DDR3 1600 RAM will play games equally as well as the 5930K on 1080p @ 60Hz without zero issues.
Hell, I use an i5 with the new maxwell on 1440p. Nothing less than 60FPS on this machine.

I just hope with my choice that the future games coming out will all play flawlessly, I saved a lot to make this so I think I'll definitely settle with it!

Thanks a ton for the help, honestly :)

I'm a stickler for power consumption, hence the PSU, so Maxwell was a good choice for me :D that an I get most GPU's on release! I was one of those fools who bought a 780 for £550 on release day, gave it to my brother today.

Nice build! But if you are trying to build with the hopes of playing future games as well as you'll be able to play currently, that's a looooong road that will never end. Trust me, been there, and then realized as soon as I bought the latest crap, it was already replaced. Best advice, build the best build you can afford now, upgrade vital parts only every couple years. :)

Just ordered all my parts - Thanks everyone for their inputs! Really helpful!

I just have one last question - this will be my first time (since I was 11, 12 years ago) building a computer - are there any reliable good sources of helping construct the PC step by step? Or can a member here help me in private chat?
Thanks all!
