GTX 980/970 Club

Hi,

may I create this club? Should it live here or in the club thread?

(By the way, there is a sticky thread here of a rather obsolete Geforce 2xx series card.)

Not sure if 980 and 970 should be together or not... Since years I have always got myself the 2nd tier cards, this time it is a pure Techpower Up act!!

Probably belongs in the clubs section, but meh. Also may as well have a club for those of us with the Maxwell architecture in general. We're all likely to have the same problems and such.

I always look for subjects in the subjected threads, then when I do not find it, I go to the clubs...

So far, it eats thru games, don't know what to test to stress it.
3D Mark, it results in 2x score of my previous 670 OC.
But the 3D Mark full test suite hangs. Well it is Day 3 of release so updates will bring tweaks.

Silent it is and not hot, I can say. Personally, the game I most enjoy now is ARMA 3 with some ridiculous detail settings. BF4 I set all to Ultra, but it adds some soft filter I do not like...

Yeah I'm struggling to find something to put it through its paces. So far the only game that doesn't run flawless on ultra @1440p is Crysis 3, and I don't particularly like that game anyway. Everything else I own is fine on max settings.

And my god does it run cool and quiet. The idle zero fan spin is disconcerting, I can hear my AIO fans for once.

Judging from the 45FPS on 970 SLI, I reckon 980SLI might be the 4K setup of choice!

If you experienced any weird SLI stutters (or in the future) then try fixed SLI bridge, I heard it can help in such scenarios vs this flexible.

Cannot test Chrome... no have

Regarding clock speed. Stock.
Advertised for my Gigabyte nVidia design: BASE: 1127 MHz / BOOST: 1216 MHz.
During gameplay I see it constantly going up to and over 1300. Lot of speed changing, depending of scene. (Using Afterburner 4 OSD)
