I saw one, two users @ guru3d forums complaining about stutters and it turned out it was shoddy flexible SLI bridge, once they bought this bigger one all problems went away

i have to concur: i love the ref cooler and i would prefer a 980 ref than a 970 custom (tho the 970 Strixx is really nice and i think my choice is settled)

Its just the basic reference design. It looks nice but theres nothing unique about it - they have used the same design for about a year now on older cards.

I bought one of these a while back....

Unfortunately I wasnt able to use it with my 680s cuz one of the connections is kinda 'obstructed' by the heatsink.

If you look at the pic here you can see a small corner of the heatsink/shroud sticks out and that stops me from connecting the bridge up properly.

Yeah if you don't have any issues with flexible then dont worry about it, but if it starts stuttering later then you might want to look in to that.

All those complained its drivers, but it was actually hw issue with flexible sli, guess it got worn (or had to little bandwidth) or something

Ive had stuttering on and off for a while now.... HOPEFULLY I can fit this SLi bridge on and that will solve part of the problem.

He's so close I can smell his fear....

Unfortunately the fixed sli bridge didnt work for me as MSI have yet again partially obstructed an sli finger with their cooler.

Just putting the cards through some benches at the moment.

Cant wait to get some bf4 on later

Well, i think ive discovered my first problem...

Since the vrms are located on the other end of the card it creates a lot of rf interference. And since my soundcard sits right ontop of the bottom cards vrms. I can hear quite a constant high pitched squealing noise coming from my center speaker.... Its not noticable when my pc is idle but when i launch bf4 i can definitely hear it coming tthrough the speaker.

I tried making a make shift rf shield using some cardboard & aluminium foil but it didnt fix the problem

Time for a ground loop isolator and pray it shields some of it. I had the same problem with my reference 780 (the first one).

You can get clip on cable ones, but they're usually for XLR cables, any generic amazon one will do, just check reviews.

Well I just returned my newly purchased 290 and with some discounts and leeway got a pair of 970s for 580. They are reference versions because I do plan on throwing them under water soon enough. Wondering though if I should of just kept my 290 tri fire or go the above route or maybe even go single gtx 980 then add another a lil' later on.

JUST NOTICED THIS, quite nice at night (or day if a translucend side panel is present).
It also offers something like a PROPERTY ALARM warning, I can only guess ... it warns when an AMD powered machine is close hahaha!

just ordered 2 Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 G1 Gaming but i will use these new beast with da new LED lighting SLI Bridges ;o)

Bit later - i will try to mod the 'WindForce' with Green LED milk plexiglass (milled parts) for full FX effects...

Thanks, but it seems we've mostly 4k users that don't need/aren't interested in testing DSR.
