I don't see why that would make a difference. It's definitely a software issue since it only occurs in one game - whether it's caused by the drivers or the game I don't know.

I'm down to it being a piece of software keeping the game from going full screen. As I posted before, someone on W8 was having the same issues, and it was due to Teamviewer keeping the game from going full screen. I know it isn't the exact same situation, but still...

I just have to decide whether I'm too lazy or not to hunt down the app.

So, I recently noticed after watching this video here, that my crossfire isn't working. I hadn't thought much of it because GPU-Z and CCC say it is enabled, though it seemed like I was getting fairly low FPS (Avg: 42) in the Tomb Raider benchmark the couple times I've run it. Once I saw the video though, where the guy is getting 78 FPS average, I ran the benchmark a couple more times with CF on/off. I was surprised to see that my results were thus:

CrossFire
Min: 32
Max: 54.4
Avg: 41.9

Non-CrossFire
Min: 32
Max: 56
Avg: 41.9

I checked both GPU-Z and CCC every time I hit toggled CrossFire, to make sure it was working. Both cards are independently working. My only thought is that maybe it's the fact that I have a FX-6300, while he has a FX-8350, but it doesn't seem like it would make THAT big of a difference. I remember once (I've done about 3 clean installs of W7 by now), getting the kind of FPS the guy in the video got, but not anymore. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance for help/advice.

Hi,
Did you think to disable ULPS ?
Also, create a profile for your games Catalyst verifying that AMD CrossfireX is enabled and FramePacing too?

I did. I narrowed it down to Tomb Raider specifically, for some reason it won't recognize and use my Crossfire set up. This is weird considering other games in my library take advantage of it just fine.

Indeed, TombRaider enjoys a good boost with crossfire ... This is amazing ...

Have you disabled the VSynch? because if it is on the framerate can not exceed the refresh rate (eg: 60Hz = 60fps) ^^

It's not about the the frame rate. I used the CF logo feature in CCC, and when playing the game, the logo doesn't show up.

The option of CrossfireX Logo is very nice for screenshots however I noticed that most of the games were slow so I do not use, sorry ^^
I noticed this problem with 'crossfire 7850 2GB OC, "" crossfire 280X Toxic "," Tri-280X CrossFire X OC "in your place then I will not try to display this logo too;)

What do you mean? I was just using it to see if my CF was working in games. I don't leave it on.

By the way! The logo does not appear automatically, you have to right click on AMD Catalyst (next to the system clock) go to exit 1, click "Settings AMD CrossFireX (tm)" and then select or select "Show the status of AMD CrossfireX icon (if any).

see screenshot below:

I know, I was able to figure it out. It should be more obvious though.

I didn't think 720p was low. Plus it actually runs the games at 1080p. Either way, CF works for me on my other games (Skyrim, Fallout: New Vegas, etc).

it's maybe your version of TombRaider ? CFX 7850, CFX R9 280X, work with TombRaider so your CFX 7870/270X must be fonctionnal :)

Do you have test in AMD Catalyst to create profil game for Tomb Raider with CFX Mode = "use a profile AMD Predefined" and search TombRaider ... ?

I've heard people do that, but I never thought of trying it. I might.

So what? it going? there is always the better or not?

I couldn't get it to work. Something is preventing the game from going full screen. Still not sure what.

I tried that, it expands to the window but it won't go exclusive full screen, despite having that setting enabled. I think at least.

Use a WHQL driver version Catalyst;)

I using ""amd-catalyst-14.7-rc1-windows-july9.exe"" because the RC3 do not perform clean for me ;)
