[WTB][US] Socket 1156 i7 chip.

Pretty much what the title states. Looking for and i7 chip for Intel socket 1156 board.

Our own awesome @AthlonX2 had one he didn't know of the condition and unfortunately it is a dead chip.

Looking to upgrade an i3 system for World Community Grid crunching.

Cheaper the better of course

Not really "resurrect" it. AthlonX2 was sure it posted the last time he gave it a try. So it is possible that I didn't have the chip seated quite right or the heat sink not set properly.

Hopefully no pins were bent in the mobo

Take a snapshot of the mobo socket and the chip itself if you havent already.

Na it didn't bend any pins. I currently have an i3 540 running in it now. It runs WCG crunching and Folding@home.

Save a snapshot of bios settings. When you pull the hs look at the orientation of that cpu. Then open the skt and pull old cpu out and vertically drop the new one in with same orientation as old one, reset bios and power up.

Yea, LOL, I know all that stuff. Personally I think the heat sink wasn't on quite right or the chip is just bad.
