I would vote G3258 + 270 if you were going to overclock (I think that is the one with the unlocked multi right?)

That's what i was leaning too. Just just remember Wow is CPU intensive so wasn't sure if it would benefit from the extra threads with HT on the i3. I would like to go i5 but his budget is too tight. I was going to use the H97 I have and yes it will OC that CPU

Yeah, in spite of being CPU intensive WoW still doesn't use more than two cores. Pentium + OC + better video card.

I have used very recently an i3 4340 and currently a G3258, both with a miserly GTX 650 Ti Boost. Ultra settings with 4 xAA @1080p.

The G3258 is smoother and I only have it at 4.2GHz

I don't do raids yet so couldn't comment but for everything else it has been very smooth paired with a mediocre SSD.

Would be a better comparison if it's in a raid or BG since it'll cover 25-80 active characters and that's where MMO is shining (and killing your CPU).

Just thought I would offer the experience I have had, I'm aware a raid comparison would be better which is why I stated that I hadn't done it yet.
