HiFiMAN's highly anticipated release version of the HE-560 gets put on the spot. It features a lot of changes that improve the sound quality; however, the beautiful teak cups are now gone in favor of more durable plastic cups.

difference between this and HE-600 ?

Less frequency response 15-50 vs 8-65 (thats probably most I saw from "non-Stax" headphones). A bit cheaper. And less hard to drive to full potential. HD-6 (not HE-600) are AMP nightmare. :) Also HE-560 are quite a bit lighter, no XLR connectors (even tho it shouldnt be problem to get them). And only one pair of ear cushions.

Money wise, it seems like pretty good choice..

Soundwise hard to say, but since its both same tech, probably very close. Most of HE's sound quite similar.

$900 holy cow. I think I will use that money towards a 34" AOC 3440-1440 21:9 IPS monitor instead.

Would my SoundBlaster Z power these monsters?

No. These are easy to drive, you get away with 400$ amp (Schiit amp)+ 1000$ DAC. Otherwise you are wasting the potential of the phones. But as i said, these are 'easy to drive' compared to hp like HD800. Need good current output amp, though.

I would not put anything into the theoretical frequency limits of the driver, it makes no sense at all for judging the performance of a set of headphones. The HE-6s are different. I prefer the HE-560s but some people might like the slightly drier, more intimate sound. You can just get an O2+ODAC for the HE-560s and have an end-game setup. The sound blaster z is ok but its high output impedance will mess with the sound of the HE-560s. The O2 or similar is much better.
