Hello guys, this is my first post here

I currently own a amd phenom II x6 1055t 2.80GHz wich I am selling.

My RAM: 8GB 1333MHZ
My HDD is a 128 gb really bad
My motherboard: motherboard asus m4a89gtd
My gpu: ASUS EAH6850 1GB GDDR5 256BIT (SAME AS AMD RADEON HD6850)

The main reason here that I am selling my CPU and MOTHERBOARD is that I think that the performance is not being that fantastic, not on the desktop but mainly on Counter Strike - Global Offensive.

I've been searching alot arround this question and I really really want to know what to do, I've done some research and this game is related to be a heavy processor game, so the CPU is more important than the GPU, I only play "Counter Strike - Global Offensive" and thats pretty much the game I enjoy playing. My GPU is a Asus EAH6850 1GB GDDR5 256Bits (same as AMD Radeaon HD 6850)

My problem is that sometimes the fps drop for less than 150, and I get like 120....and I own a 144hz monitor so I experience some stutering(I think its the word)/lag low performance.

I really want to know first of all your opinions and suggestions, I had also been looking for this cpu:

i5 4690K or just the 4690, again I would like to know your opinions since i will mainly play this game, and I will not certainly overclock my CPU. I would also love to know a good motherboard for the cpu that you guys think will be more worth in my case.

I will upgrade my GPU LATER ON this year maybe on the 2014 falling.. or 2015.

Thanks and please help me solve this

thanks!

the system doesn't seem so bad at all. a generation or two old but its not the end of the world.

Only thing i can think of is that 6850 is inadequate to run games at 144hz - you need a graphics card with a bit of muscle for that and that 6850 is weaker then a 5850 so you are far far far behind in terms of GPU performance.

Coupled with that 1GB of ram on the GPU and youre really not doing yourself any favours. Look at upgrading your graphics card and games should start performing much better. As it stands your card isnt even mid range anymore - its low-end card. Even a low-mid range 7950 which is faster then your GPU will probably struggle pushing 144hz

you could try overclocking your cpu . If this doesn't solve the problem then its probably your gpu that needs upgrading.

What model?

i know the brand, its a CHIEFTECH its 650w and it is a modular one, its pretty good it costed me 120€ 2 years ago, my house has a low energy capacity, when the main electricity central is overwelmed (i dont know the proper name), and it has never let my computer in bad shape, besides i have a UPS to extra protection.

The GTX 970 is overkill for Counter Strike even on your monitor but it's hard to recommend anything else right now because the 970 is such a good buy at $330 US for the performance that you get.

how to find out what causes low fps:

1) run gpu-z in background
2) run game and when you encounter low fps hit alt+tab and check gpu-z
3) look at the GPU load graph and if it is hitting 100% or close to it, your GPU is too weak

I can't answer to the CPU side of things because I'm not familiar with AMD processors so that's better answered by members of the TPU community that are but on the GPU side of things if the minimum you were hitting was 120 FPS with a HD 6850 and your CPU is not a big bottleneck for a GTX 970 then there's no way you would be getting min FPS below the refresh rate of your 144 Hz monitor with a 970 in that game.

Your computer isn't bad. You shouldn't sell your computer. You can upgrade HD 6850 to GTX 970.

I don't know if this thread is a big joke, but come on a an ATI 6850 + Phenon II X6 1055T is more than enough for Counter Strike Global Offensive. I can't see why an upgrade would be necessary. You are getting 150FPS, that is 2.5x more frame rate necessary to run a game in its more ideal situation (60FPS). Throwing money on an endeavour expecting more performance is a complete waste of time.
