Best cooling solution for 939?

I recently bought my new 939 MSI K8N NEO 2 Platinum and a 3700+ Sandiego. but i find that when cool n quiet is enabled when i play a game it makes the stock fan spin way to fast like 5100rpm which is very loud. it sounds like a fully reved up cd drive but all the time so i was just wondering what cooler would be best. i have looked at a couple. the Akasa AK-913, Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 they are the only two i've really looked at. and i'm kinda new to cpu cooling so pls help!!!

Get a Zalman if you want it to be quite...are you going be overclocking? If so maybe wait for the new Zalman CNPS9500. Its not out yet but will be soon, heres a link. . They say it will be almost as good as water and quiet aswell. If you don't feel like waitng for it I would recommend a Zalman 7700-Cu.

yeh i actually just noticed that cooler on the site there are waiting stock. it's £45. i'm reading a review on it now. lol. i will prob do a bit of overclocking but not much. ai just want a quiet cool system.

after looking at a few different coolers. i have finally decided on the Gigabyte G-Power Pro. This is a really gd cooler and the review i found tests on the same cpu that i have. it gets idle temps of 26C and load temps of 35C. this is amazing!!! see for yourself http://www.insanetek.com/index.php?page=gigabytegpowerpro_5. btw it cost around £35 so a bit pricey but i think it's worth it.

Ya the XP-90C with a nice fan will beat most water systems aswell, but I think that might be a little overkill for what he wants.

yeh your right m8. I just want to keep it simple. A nice cooling solution that will keep my cpu both cool and quiet and that gigabyte fan keeps it very cool or much cooler than it is with the stock heatsink and fan at the minimal fan settings.

First thing I would worry about is replacing the fan. The atricle even mentioned the odd size of 110mm. Seems to me the best you can hope to rig to fit this is a 92mm fan. Also the 45 or 46 cfm fan seems to be a little slow. my money is on the thermalright xp-90c with a panaflo high/med fan as at least the fans are easily replaced. This heatsink is basically a rip of the XP-90 anyway with the exception that Thermalright realizes there is a dead spot in the center of the fans and putting pipes there is a waste of time.
The guy that said "thermalright xp-90c with a panaflo high/med fan" has got her nailed. As far as the guy that said "the XP-90C with a nice fan will beat most water systems aswell" is way out. I went to water after the XP-90 and XP-90 doesn't hold it's own with it let alone beat it.

Well with that beast its a nowonder dude. But most poeple can't get their hands in a metal shop and build a sweet system like that and other don't want to spend like 200 on a water system, that a XP-90C could equal and sometimes beat.

Thats what I took out and replaced with this water cooling.

Actually I would say that the XP-90 may keep up with some of the cooling solutions which do not hold a very large volume of water and have little rads. Unfortunatly the makers of these kits do not make them with big enough capacities and thats where they fall short in performance. A decent solution to this is to get one of the lower end water cooling units and build yourself a decent sized reseviour. This can be done with just about anything such as a 5 gallon plastic bucket with lid or whatever you think will hold enough water. With more water the temps take much longer to rise even with a small rad.

Case airflow plays a big part too. Thanks to my two side fans my temps have dropped significantly. (8º-13º). I don't think my XP-90C would be nearly as good of a performer as it is without my side fans.

I would rather pay $60 for a XP-90 and panaflow 92 mm fan, and two 120 case fans than $250+ for water cooling.

My point exactly. In JALOOS case its a littel different cause he made a lot of his, but most can't do that.

ok well my new cpu fan has been installed now and my temps still suck. i've even put in the extra case fans. I think i'm doing something wrong with the paste or something. i get idle temps of about 35 andwell i'm not sure about load. but in the review of the cooler where they use my exact cpu they get idle 26 now wtf even if i enable cool n' quiet i don't get anywhere near that. And with the stock cooler after a gaming session the cpu would go down to 40 and no less. now after gaming it go down to 41-40. wtf this cooler has been a bit of a waste of monet ssooo far as it doesn't cool anything down. pls help

How did you apply the thremal paste and how much did you use?

i used an unused hmv card lol. jus the same as credit card to spread the paste, was arctic silver 5. and i used enough to cover the whole surface of the cpu evenly. i was going to take a pic of it at the time lol prob should have. in saying that once i took of the old stock cooler i know why my temps might have been so high basically because all the paste was cracked and was very very thin.
