Refresh Rate + VSYNC Relationship Question!

Hi guys,
I just need a lil information about Refresh Rate and vSync

Right now, I have this monitor:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007HSKSMI/?tag=tec06d-20
The refresh rate on it is 60Hz. I enabled vsync on while playing NBA 2K15 and other games, and the FPS locks at 60 which is understandable (lowest 53FPS)

My question is this, if I was to get a monitor like this:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B2HH7G0/?tag=tec06d-20
with a refresh rate of 144Hz, will my FPS with vsync on rise higher than 60Hz??

Thanks in advance.

Yep a 144Hz monitor would mean v-sync locks the game at 144 fps providing you have the gaphical grunt to do this of course, if your graphics horsepower isn't up to the task then it would be a waste of time having a monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate.

The refresh rate is basically how many times per second your screen draws. The FPS is the amount of frames your computer can render every second. Vsync allows you to avoid tearing if your fps is higher than your hz. This is pretty straightforward. If your computer can handle 144fps , enabling vsync will just lock the frames to the rate of the monitor.

I suggest you get the new GTX 970 or GTX 980 instead, because they use the latest GPUs and are faster than this as well as being very competitive on price with the previous generation GTX 780.
Check out the reviews on TPU for full details.
