The rage is real. I can't seem to configure the damn thing properly. No matter what I do, I get shit ton of echo when I try to speak. I tried all combinations of options in the capture tab, and nothing helps. The echo cancellation thing only makes it horrible instead of flat out piercing my eardrums. I also tried speaking directly into the microphone from like 10cm away, and it was just as bad.
I have Samson C01U microphone, which is sitting in front of the left side of the monitor, about 50cm away from my mouth in direct line. Ideally I'd like it to be directly in front of me, but I can't do that, because the damn stand doesn't fit between the keyboard and bottom of the monitor (there's only about 15cm there).
Fuck my life.
Does anyone have any idea?

There's two reasons for echo that I encountered:
1) The most common: the microphone is picking up the speakers which causes it to loop (microphone -> speaker -> microphone -> speaker -> microphone -> speaker).
2) Rare: when someone switches user accounts on Windows and has TeamSpeak running on the other account, it can echo really bad from some sort of software/hardware hiccup.

I believe I may see the issue: Samson C01U is not directional, is it? It listens to sounds from all directions? If so, I think your only solution will be to use closed headphones.

as someone who runs his own teamspeak server and has people on it daily:


1. Enforce Push to Talk. Don't be a voice activated mouth breather. Speaker feedback can be incredibly common, even with a headset - some headsets and some soundcards just suck.

2. settings-> options -> hotkeys
Set it like below so that no other app except teamspeak will detect the button you're pressing. This allows me to use "home" without screwing with a web browser, for example.

3. PM me, and i can literally talk you through various settings on my personal server if you want.

I always used push to talk, but that doesn't solve the problem. It still echoes like fucker. Maybe it sounds different when really talking to people and not just doing the test, but I don't think so.
The settings I use (and which I always used as far as I can remember, when I was still using a headset) are echo reduction, echo cancellation, and remove background noise in advanced options. There's not even too much to cofigure really...
The weirdest thing is that Skype works perfectly fine, and from what I was told, my voice sounds normal.

The way you set the key btw, how does it work that it doesn't interfere with anything?

as long as its got admin rights, it prevents the keystroke being sent to other apps. programming magic i guess - and again, i'm happy to help you test on my server to rule out issues there.

edit: fire up skype and confirm what mic its using, make sure teamspeak is on the same. dont use auto. you could have a second mic and have forgotten about it (webcam, etc)

Anyway setting the devices manually doesn't make a difference, but I never expected it to anyway. I also tried changing the capture mode, but no difference either. The other thing I tried was changing the volume in control panel, but increasing it only made it worse, so I went back to 40-50 (there's no mic boost option btw).

PM me, jump in my server and i'll test the various teamspeak codec settings - we may find the cause there. Could be mono/stereo settings, or even that your mic/sound card hates a particular codec or quality setting. i have seen that before.

Yup, apparently the TS builtin test is completely useless.
P.S. LOL @the accent problems. I always thought I was kind of "accentless", being relatively easy to understand I also understand why Mel Gibson had huge problems when he moved to the U.S. though

Edit: If not BlockInput, it's certainly some other function of User32.dll

only when TS is running - and you simply pick a key you dont use elsewhere while gaming. How often do you use Home or Page Down, for example?

I bound my G5 button (Logitech G700s) to home, activated that setting and now i have a dedicated voice chat button that can never conflict with a game.

Oh I wish I had an extra button on my mouse, I'd love being able to activate voice that way. Sometimes you want to talk while being on the move, and that limits the possible keys quite a lot. I think I mostly used left alt, which is a bit awkward, but still doable.

WELL EXCUSE ME FOR TRYING TO HELP!!!. By the way your post never specified you have been into WINDOWS VOLUME CONTROL OR SOUND PROPERTIES!!! Since youre so closed minded, Shit can the mic and get a high quality unit. I blame user error on this problem now. May you be humbled by your cockiness.
