Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
for ocing a 4690K i would rather recommend a 412S or above than a 212 evo, tho it's a good cooler to replace a stock cooler from intel :D (even if 4.0 is not that high) i run mine (4690K) at 4.5 under a Corsair H60V2 with a CM JetFlo 120mm white, i used a pretty similar cooler (Scythe Katana 4 and yes even with 1 heatpipe less it's on par or above a 212 single fan) before.

so depending your budget and clearance available in your case: CM 412S/Scythe Ashura/Thermalright HR-02 Macho Rev.A/Alpenfhön Brocken 2 (all these are cheap as hell on comparison of the performance delivered)
if the 212 is the only one who fit your budget: go for it, 4.0 should be no threat to that one in the end

What is stopping you getting something bigger, cost or space? ... Why not get something bigger and run at 4.4/4.5GHz!

Its a great budget cooler. But that's what it is a budget cooler. You should be able to run 4.4 with it. But all chips are different

uhmm are there better coolers for 50 € ? like the CM seidon 120V Plus for example

No the 212 EVO will beat it by a couple c

You really have to get into the $60 ^ to beat it But there are a few in the same price range that are close

The NHD14 beats it, H100i

Are there benefits with higher FPS's in that game? If no, I wouldn't even bother with the overclock.

It's CPU orientated but extremely well optimised. Unless he has a 120hz monitor, he will get no gameplay improvement, as he'll already be getting 60FPS with that kind of horsepower behind it.

Also, I'm sure the turbo clock on my 4670 is 3.8Ghz, so there's almost no improvement to be had with a mere 100mhz clock speed increase. The IPC improvements don't scale that well with clock bumps. You'd have to add an extra Ghz to see some real minimum framerate improvements.

i have a 144hz monitor indeed, i already have really good feeling while playing tho i dont need to run it more than the 3.9GHz that are stock turbo, I want it to be cool (temperature) iddle and playing :)

212 is a good choice for replacing the stock cooler in the event you merely want a better cooler. It can handle minor overclocks, but not much more, and minor overclocks won't net you much of an improvement anyway. In the event you want to hit beyond 4.2 - 4.4ghz, you want to look at the beefier tower coolers or AIOs.

My bad, got home to eat from work. For 60 euro, I'd probably recommend something in the vicinity of the H60 or a Cryorig R1 Universal (around 60-70 euros)

This is a great cooler, but you have to replace the fan with something better.
I use it to cool 3770K@4.4GHz (delidded though) with one of the newer Noctua fans on it, and it maxxes out under 80°C under Prime95.

Dude I don't know. I typically only look around what's available when I need something, and I don't constantly keep up with news. Also, Noctua is somewhat controversial due to the price of their products. Some people say the bang for the buck is pretty low. Myself, I don't care that much. Fans usually last me several years, so I don't care about paying €5-10 or so more.
Anyway, the one I use is NF-F12. I honestly can't hear it even if it spins up.

lol I don't remember how the fan is mounted. I think there's some sort of frame that screws onto a fan, and then you clip the whole thing onto the heatsink.

I personally have put one of these on more machines than I can remember and honestly you could push it a lot further than that. I have seen people pushing 4.5ghz + on an i7 4790K with one of those so I would not fret.

Its a good CPU cooler for the money and honestly a top notch competitor compared to the others that may even cost more.

The Hyper212 comes with 2 sets of brackets for fan mounting meaning you can swap out the standard fan it comes with and swap in any (essentially) fan you want to with up to two supported at one time on the cooler. It is very easy to do and just requires removing some little foam blocks over the screws on the pre assembled fan.

Yeah, the Hyper 212 is extremely effective with a push-pull fan configuration. If you have enough change left over from purchasing one, definitely invest in some decent fans to pair up with it. I use some Arctic Cooling F12 PWM so a I can stack them off the one header. They were relatively cheap at the time and are very quiet at lower speeds. Higher speeds they move a lot of air without being too annoying.

My Hyper 212 Evo got me temps that were right on par with a Scythe Ashura, chip: Xeon Quad core x5470 1.3v @4.1Ghz running prime95

The reviews here show the Ashura doing better than the Evo. I really like the Evo, it's a very workable unit, lightweight and compact. And the price is right!

IDK, for the price the 212 EVO seems like the best cooler.

I was running at just over 55c with an i5-4440 at 1.08v/3.3GHz in P95
