Pretty old card there
Honestly just get a desktop replacement laptop.
Even gaming laptops have underpowered GPUs. You can't get desktop level performance in them. Although nVidia has been trying.
I'm the perfect buyer for these solutions because while I have a gaming laptop, the performance is well under that of my tower. The 660M just sucks compared to my tower. I often have to run games with lower detail while traveling. Now when I travel I tend to be in one spot for about a month as I have an inheritance place I'm fixing up. If I could purchase one of these to leave there, then every year I'd have the use of desktop graphics instead of struggling on laptop.
So vacation home buyers are the perfect market. Specially ones who don't want to leave expensive PCs sitting for months. Is there enough market? There is some, but I don't think people are aware of it. Lot of people own 2nd homes, especially areas where land prices are still cheap, but they'd be more apt to just buy a PC or suffer on a laptop for however long they'd stay in the other home.
So the question is, is it worth the price? Not only would I have to spend money on the kit, I'd also have to get another GPU. When adding that all up, it is a big expense if you are only staying in an area for a few weeks. So I probably wouldn't buy one unless I got some extra cash to do so, or if I really needed a new laptop but I didn't want to go another $1000+.
