Need a program to rip dvd's,convert files to android media player (losless)

I need a program that can convert my dvds i have draged in to a folder (vob files) to one file with the menus so i can choose bonus,extras, with or without subtitles, stereo, dts..... and play it with minix x5 mini (android) on my tv http://www.minix.com.hk/Products/MINIX-NEO-X5mini.html .

I also need something that i can rip dvds with into a losless format, again with the menus and something my media player can play, it has to be one file.

I can't right click on the folder and choose play with vlc like i do with my pc

DVD Decrypter only rips the movie/concert not the menu so i can choose extra,bonus that are on the dvd (havn't found the option to rip dvd's with menus, don't care about trailers).

Handbrake is to advanced, i don't want to do anything then choose a losless format to rip dvds or converet vob files into one losless video file that my android mini pc,media player can play and click on the convert,rip icon

Freemake Video Converter is one of the most popular free programs that should be able to handle all of your needs. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles so don't expect full DVD authoring capability but you can add a dvd to the conversion window and it will break out all of the individual sections of it or "titles." I don't think it names the titles but you can generally figure out what's what by looking at the run time which it displays.

I think it will also work with vob files but it's been a while since I've used it that way so you'll need to check this out - although I'm sure someone else here has experience with this.

Most video formats are not lossless.

If you want lossless and all the menus and extras, rip the DVD to an ISO using DVD Decrypter. You can then play it using XBMC.

.iso and .mkv is your only choice.

Ripping in to loss less... stupid!. You dont even know what that means. You will end up with 100's of gB + file.

If your player cant handle both of those formats, forget it.

This. You'll probably need DVDDecrypter to get through the encryption on the DVD. After that you can use a media encoder to convert the VOB files to something else with high enough quality settings to prevent too much loss. RAW video is huge and makes no sense to do.

Select the .vob files and drag them to the freemake window. Select the format you want them converted to and go.

I just tested it out with version 4.1.4.1 and it works fine.

if you want quick converting use Freemake, if you want to be in control of more and got the machine power to make it quick use Virtualdubmod.

i have done several convertions in my time even complete rebuilds of dvd9 to dvd5

Have no idea why freemake crashes, i downloaded version 4.1.5 here http://www.freemake.com/downloads/

New update, i have something on my Minix X5 mini called eHomeMediaCenter, tried that and when i choose to play all files it plays all the wob files, just can't go back or forward in a movie, so if one part (wob file) is 10 min i have to start from the start of the 10 min wob file if i stop it in the middel of it, instead of pausing, i can go to the next part (wob file) but theres a small delay when it aut goes to the next wob file and shows the controls for a few sec (play pause,forward....) which is a bit annoying to see the controls for a few sec every 10-20 min.

I still want to know what to use and what format gives me the best quality with menues, so fare it plays flv,mp4 mpeg and wob files, not shure if eHomeMediaCenter can play iso files or any of the other video players

I don't mind youtube dvd/hd and full hd quality as long as the video i hd is recorded in hd and not upscaled to hd fra 360 or mabye 480.

A android phone can be oc'ed with a program from google play, if i wnat just a bit more power what can i oc my android min to? mail 400 i remember is at 533hz if it can bed oc'ed mabye 550mhz and cpu from 2x1.6ghz (a9 cpu) to 1.7ghz. eHomeMediaCneter plays a movie in dvd quality with a bit stuttering or lag (not much though) so i might need to oc a bit, a 1080 youtube video was not smooth using cloud tv and vlc (beta) but using one of the other stock (theres 2) video player it was much more smooth more or less lagfree,100% smooth

AFAIK, the ONLY way to get the menus and everything is to do what I said and rip the entire DVD as an ISO. That is also the only way to retain the original quality of the DVD. Every other conversion tool will lose some quality and lose the menus.

And DVDs are not HD, they are 480p, so everything you watch from a DVD will be upscaled.

Pal dvd is 720x576, NTSC is 720x480 that's how they usually are.

Tried android mp4 and universal mp4/mkv it didn't work sound and picture problems

I tried installing 4.5 and couldn't because Malwarebytes flags it as a potentially unwanted program or PUP because of the inclusion of the OpenCandy plugin.

The OpenCandy site claims that the program doesn't do anything except promote other software during installation but apparently it has a bad reputation and leaves traces on your system that you can remove with Malwarebytes.

Maybe this is causing part of the problem. If what they say is true, it shouldn't but you can try an older version of freemake and see. Do a search on freemake 4.1. There are a few sites that still have the older version which hopefully don't include the OpenCandy software.

Cool, glad to hear that's working. I'm pretty sure you can customize the output options for each of the formats but I think the only time I've ever even tried to play with that was when reducing videos to put on my phone. There should be standardized options though and one of those will usually work.

Can see when the movie i choose was converted it was to big (resolution problem), so i have to make som adjustemts to the setting, but even at 480x320 the 5.05gb video is 6.071 gb big, WHAT?

Resolution of the movie is 720x576 i choose android and mpeg4,aac, what am i doing wrong?

When i choose same settings as source (flv) it's 1024x576 and the video would be more then twice the size when converted (5.05gb vs 13.13gb), not shure if the mpeg video i try to convert is already compromised.

I also think i have to make a folder and then convert the extras,bonus stuff and the movie seperate so i can choose either the movie or the extras, like 2-4 videos in the folder depending on how much extra videos,music there is and making the concert,movie with the right sound and with or without subtitle, i don't think i can make a menu so i can go in and change the settings manually.

Try changing the frame rate to 23-24 fps. That should cut the size by about half but video takes up a lot of space. I just got a bigger SD chip for my phone but even 32 gig isn't much for movies.

You can try a utility that increases the compression by recoding the video but I don't have any suggestions for you there - I'm sure there are some in the free software thread though.

Not sure how good it is but it claims to be very simple to use.

BTW, freemake can do flv, swf and a bunch of other formats - don't know if you saw that.

It was one video where every format was making the movie to big(don't knpow if i have other videos that are bigger then the source in any converted resolution then lowest of the lowest resolution) , now i might have problems with to small video's.

Begining to like Freemake video converter, just wondering why version 4.1.5 dosn't work, i don't think it's a beta/alpha version.

Have seen alle the formats i can convert to, just don't know what to use.

Go for a size as close to the size on the dvd and then i want of course what gives best sound and picture but also something that requires as low resourses as possible (ram,cpu, my media player has a 2x1.6ghz arm a9 cpu, 1gb ddr3 ram, gpu mail 400 at 533mhz, some high res videos play fine, others are not smoooth), then i could narrow it down to a few formats and mabye try them

Ah, didn't realize this was a hardware media player. I've tried to use those in the past and gave up. Went to an HTPC instead. I don't know if you're into building your own system but with a mini-itx or micro-atx board and say an AMD APU, you can put together something that would have more power and memory and probably better graphics for not a lot of money.

Of course that doesn't help with your immediate problem but it's something to keep in mind.

The only reason I can think that some videos would cause problems is if they're using a different compression scheme. I don't really know how cpu intensive different methods are but I would guess something like flv that is designed for the web probably has lower processing requirements than maybe mp4.

If it's happening with the same compression scheme on different videos, it's probably happening when there are rapid changes in the scene and less data is being carried over from one frame to the next.

Don't need more power although some videos lagg,stutter using vlc beta and cloud tv but with a stock android player it's smooth.

I am impressed with the little minix x5 mini (smaller then 3 dvd's) a mini pc with android and xbmc installed, not the fastest and cheapest android mini pc but stille very cheap and for the money a very good little unit.
