I really wonder how's TPU going to deal with the inevitable onslaught from the likes of youtube commenters, blatant trolls, haters just for sake of hating and other imaginable garbage that surround reviewers because most of them don't even bother with moderation or quality of commenters.
I vote yes, but only if the commenters will be held accountable for what they post.

Moderation can be arranged, but as it stands, TPU hardware reviews don't get such hate on branding etc, only news articles. Obviously negative opinions won't be touched, but swearing and unnecessary trolling can be dealt with.

What do you guys think to this kind of chart layout?

if you add fps values in bars will be more comfy then tool tips. you might need to reduce bar width (y axis size) to about size of the font cause when game number increase graph will become quite long to scroll.
edit2: i just changed to height: 100, and updated chart. this is what i ment to look like. cant find option to change colors thou :(
other then that looks fine.

edit: can you change colors of one of the graphs to red for min, orange for aver., and green for max so we can compare color scheme.

I voted yes. This is the games forum. Talking about games is why I come here. The community here is more mature than a regular game site so I stopped participating in discussion on game sites. Reviews are subjective but it would be interesting to see the review and see the comments from members following.

Well I for one is pro game review on this site, it will be a great contrast to what's normally available around the web. And a different look would be(is) very much appreciated, as others have stated, it will be time consuming. I say who if you the reviewer has 3 systems and let's say system 3 is the weakest(yet satisfies the minimum specs) to only run it on that system to save time. I know some members would want more but you can't please everyone. I also say not limit the reviews to just pc...if the reviewer has ps3/ps4 or whatever go right ahead and bring those reviews on as well.

Besides the Starpoint Gemini II review coming out late tonight (GMT) or tomorrow, are there any requests regarding recently released games viable for review? I was considering Assetto Corsa, as racing sims appear to be relatively popular amongst the Game subforum.

Assetto Corsa would be good. I have it myself and like it, a lot. Although multiplayer can be pretty buggy and for some reason shadowplay doesn't like it all that much (audio goes out of sync and lag spikes every few seconds).

Also maybe a BF4 review as far as touching on how the updates have fixed many of the problems with the game. It is getting on a bit for age though.

Recently bought BF4, right before the latest update, so I could touch base on that in the coming future. Not entirely sure if a BF4 review would be appreciated though, it's old, and there are a lot of veterans vastly outclassing me.

Also, if you went into this (which I think is a good idea) maybe do mini-reviews for less popular games. Things like a quick performance overview at recommended specs or something like that. Give people a heads up on stutters and driver issues. *cough*watchdogs*cough*

Like the quick reviews Ford mentioned 'buy it' 'don't buy it.' They could start doing them for indie games on Steam.
Talk about free press for the developers.

Happy to do something along those lines, certainly easier to review in terms of play time. Again, kind of hoping for future suggestions.

I can't really tell where the maxiumum FPS is. Otherwise I love it aesthetically.

Besides agreeing with Assetto Corsa, I don't have any games to recommend really. I've only got about 5 games. All stuff like minecraft, NFS, and KSP. :p

There are a good many indie games out like Space Engineers and BeamNG.drive that aren't games with storylines or super-developed gameplay. (Sorry .drive! :p) They're fun to mess around in, but honestly it would only be a performance review and not a gameplay review.

On the to-do list is Space Engineers, Assetto Corsa, Borderlands and Dragon Age when it releases. Not necessarily in that order, but Space Engineers is likely to come up first, as I have somebody happy to host 24/7 for me, it may even include a treat for Star Citizen players.

Wow, why am I only now seeing this? Didn't know you were a published author, though I'm not exactly shocked to learn that...
I think honest, eloquent, insightful game reviews are a rare commodity these days, and most reviewers take both themselves and their reviews way too seriously. A relaxed, no-nonsense approach would be a much-welcomed refreshment, and I'm all for it.

And as for recommendations, would you be interested in covering Ubisoft's "Child of Light"? It's not exactly new (came out in April I believe), but it's easily GOTY (as cut down and rushed to market as it was) if you ask me.

Will look it up and give it a play this weekend. Rebenchmarking with a better process also for 1080p results, so I can poke and prod between benching.

It is. Writing seems effortless on your part, which makes it easily palatable, and that's exactly what I'd hoped for.

Well done, and keep it up! :)

All charts have been updated for vastly improved FPS accuracy and also include 1080p benchmarks too. 1440P was nice and easy, but a lot of people wanted 1080p res charts too. Commencing with Borderlands and Space Engineers reviews in the coming week.

I voted no because TPU the way it is provides things other sites don't already atmosphere being one of them. Even if you had 1000 mods I cannot wait to see the amount of gaming trolls come out of the wood work and turn that forum into a shit fest. Gamers have about as much control talking about games in a forum as people that talk about politics in a forum.

I voted, no. Because I am trying to quit gaming hard, and TPU is a daily visit for me. I don't mind them reviewing gaming products, not at all. I even encourage that. I don't mind them commenting products in the light of gaming, but game reviews....no. I just don't want to go back to SC2 and all the competitive spirit I have. I'd rather see other stuff posted here than game reviews. But to each his own of course- answer "No" makes about 30% altogether. So, I am guessing we gonna start seeing game reviews anyway.

EDIT: I just saw upper posts in more detail, so the first 2 reviews are on the way already. :)

I've got one game lined up, but with a scheduled 2 reviews per week I'm in need of requests for new/early access games people would like to see reviews for for the second game next week, plus future ideas. Assetto Corsa is on the list unless something more pressing lands on my desk tomorrow, but I was also considering Clockwork Empires, although that's a bit too early in development for my tastes.

pm me any time of day with requests, you can also add me on steam

I voted yes...

Although, I'd like to see Khoroush Ghazi from Tweakguides.com writing game reviews/guides for TPU. Nvidia had him doing reviews/guides for awhile, but as far as I can tell they we're killing the efficiency of his articles by delays(IE: red tape). He's an excellent writer, I'm surprised nobody has snapped him up. I've been reading his stuff since the early 2000's, but he doesn't seem to be writing as much as he used to.

Best,

LC

Id trust a game review here more than I would other sites because reviews can be bought by the game manufacturer I dont think we'd have to worry about that here.

IMO this is what I thought people need instead of wall of text review:
1. Table consisting of important data such as price, multiplayer option (lan / co-op / co-op campaign)
2. Short description ("this is ARPG game, set in steampunk world of Leonardus da Vincius, a bit buggy but not deal breaker.").
3. Link to trailer
4. Link to gameplay trailer
5. Few screenshots to show the beauty of the games and maybe some of tips/guide/tutorial pics (i.e. UI guide)
6. (Early) strategy tips to kickstart the game (and also discussion).
7. Do it like bit-tech.net, show the difference between graphic settings. It's tedious but totally useful to the readers to maximize performance and it's relevant to TPU.

It'll be one stop information thread. I'll definitely keep watch for it.

If you must have wall of text, please don't be cynical (IMO many TPU members prone to this). Example: nothing wrong with the rehashed idea, some fans genuinely want old idea with new tech, some people are too young they have never experienced that 'old' idea. Tell them it's old idea, but no need to make fuss about it, let them be the judge :)
