the idea of being loyal to a brand is something i find ludicrous.

i go with the best performance for the cost as the only brand that matters is my bottom line. much the same as it is from the big names in the industry.

far too many of the big names are all coasting on their past. corsair used to do the best ram, and psu but now...i see more issues from their psu than any other brand and the ram is just the same as the rest, but overpriced. i have a corsair case and it feels so cheap compared to some from smaller brands and even compared to cheaper case.

not to single corsair out, it just comes to mind right now.

Rosewill have had good odds and ends, there keyboards are great.
That is true, but I specifically mentioned PSUs to make a point. Everyone here should know Rosewill PSU's were bottom of the barrel (think powmax and raidmax levels) before about a year or two ago. If was making a point about their 1000s of peripherals they sell (falling just short of the kitchen sink) I could see why you would post that though. Otherwise...

If find it a tad bit funny that people hang their hat on "goo luck with past experiences" too.

Sorry guys. Brands are mostly stickers, and support or quality depends of the momentary personal in charge, always ready to jump to a competitor if better paid. Whoredom is what rules the world. And I reserve loyalty for my wife and for good (real) people in the neighborhood.

Whatever gives me the best bang for the buck. Brand loyalty never made much sense to me.
This.

Only thing I tend to stick to is Seasonic because they always seem to have the best performing PSU when I'm in the market. Not that I wouldn't go with another brand. Just never seen one really built better for my uses. Also Wacom tablets. But that's a niche thing most people don't even know about.

When it comes to GPU, Mobo, etc. I just go with the best bang for the buck. Not looking for a pretty hooker. Just a hooker.

The EVGA Supernova G2's have taken the quality and bang for the buck crown... almost perfect 10's from JGuru out of their 750/850/1000/1300W PSU's and they are by far cheaper than Seasonic and Corsair AX series at the same wattage... go get your some TMM..

Not in the market right now. How is their ripple and what kind of caps do they use? Temps? Normally you cant beat a Seasonic with those three.

Well, for JG to score them a 9.7 to 10 (I discount the 9.4 for the 1KW model as its price has dropped a ton)... Im sure their ripple is off the charts low and use quality caps. You are welcome to look at said reviews of those PSU's when you are in the market again (though another will probably supplant it by that time).

I know in the 750/850W range there isn't much if anything better. The Ax/Seasonic units are much more pricey. I haven't looked much beyond 1KW.

I can tell you the 750W model I finally hear its fan speed when I am pulling around 800W+ at the wall (it handled an overclocked 295x2 and my 4930K @ 4.7GHz). With the GPU at stock and 4930K @ 4.2Ghz, that fan barely moves.

Going on original post..

OEMs:

I love AMD and Intel. I lean move towards Intel as I've owned and used both brands of CPUs. I've used AMD a lot and wanna get to run with Intel a bit.

GPUs? Eh. I like NVIDIA for the smoother frames and my GT220 proved itself over and over again. (Maxed L4D2 on 1600x900) I have both brands but desktops? Give me da green.

Market brands(?):

Motherboards, ASUS is on my shitlist. Looked on NewEgg and guess a good sized batch of M5A97 R2.0 boards got shat on and I was in the group. Test before release would be nice. Buddy of mine had a Gigabyte + i7 2700 run for seven years before dying. (Constant gaming mind this) So I'm trying Gigabyte for the first time. LEAVE PEGATRON OUT OF THIS BECAUSE I HATE THEM VERY MUCH SO.

I love me some PNY and MSI GPUs. PNY GT220 and a MSI GTX660 OC have both served me above and beyond what I expected. Loooveee those cards.

Ram? G.Skill has my desktop and laptop covered. 2x8 and 2x4 kits have never failed me.

HDD? WD is my big runner as my Green drive still runs great after a load of formats.

Keyboards? Mice? Headsets? I don't care for keyboard brands; if it's pretty, gimme. I love my Corsair M60 so there is that. Headsets are a different thing. Fatal1ty, Sony, Steelseries. I love them all.

Monitors... I just want a 1080p..

Almost forgot case and PSU.

PSU is Raidmax as I've never used anything else but some weird CoolerMaster that worked decently.

Case? I only have my Antec III 500 so does that count..?

Speaking of garbage... lol. I would get a better quality unit because your luck (and make no bones about it, that it's luck) may run out sooner rather than later.... :)

How did this place LET you buy a Raidmax PSU?!!! :p

I have to hand it to EVGA. They are making one heck of a nice PSU with the Supernova G2 and it will probably be the PSU in my Skylake build next year.

I have brand loyalty to the stuff I bought that works and works well, so my tower reflects what I think it reliable pretty well.

I feel more strongly about the stuff that didn't work than the stuff that does...
I can tell you that HannsG/HannSpreee has terrible QA as after 4 RMAs, they were unable to give me a display that didn't start acting up after few months.
I can also tell you that many years ago when I did do an RMA with MSI it was painless, now it requires more intervention on my part.
Lastly I can say that for all the brands I'm loyal to, I like Western Digital the most and it's not because their drives don't fail. It's because I can contact them when a drive fails and have a new one on my door step 2 days later. When it comes to my RAID, the less time it spends degraded the better and WD's turn around time is amazing even when you don't do an advance RMA. I also haven't had a replacement WD black fail on me yet.

Rosewill have had good odds and ends, their keyboards are great.
I got an RK-9100 keyboard. I almost didn't because I though "Ugh, Rosewill," but it was on sale and I did. Man, it's the best keyboard I've ever used. Granted I mostly type with my keyboard and not game, but that's beside the point. It's a solid keyboard and I didn't expect that. I think Rosewill's quality has improved a lot lately if my keyboard is any indication.

Not having had ~any~ quality issues with my ASUS GPUs, DVD Burners, and Motherboards, they're still a favorite brand of mine.

Rosewill sells a lot of good stuff nowadays. I have a Blackhawk and a Blackhawk Ultra case here. They have lots of good features and tons of room inside of them. The airflow is great in both of them.
I also have a pair of 750W Semi-Modular PSU with the Rosewill name on them that seem to be top notch.

I think that Rosewill doesn't make their stuff, but they contract other companies to make items for them. The prices are good and I like that.

Now that i work in a field that requires me to act as a member of the support community and actively assist customers, I have a unique perspective, at least when it comes to components.

If its a video card, once it goes inside your case, you will never know if its an XFX, EVGA, MSI or whomever. It simply uses Nvidia or ATI drivers and thats the end of it. The only time you remember what brand you have is when its broken and you need help. Thats when the brand really counts.

Before you make a big purchase, call the company or visit their support site and simply state: My Item is broken, i've tested it and confirmed it, please help me get it replaced.

1. Do they respond?
2. Do they speak your language?
3. Whats the warranty and will they even help you?
4. What will it cost, if anything, and how long will it take?

Its not hard to find each manufacturers website and phone numbers and only takes a few minutes to do the homework. Its a bit tedious, but if you want to compare brands, start with what they are willing to do for you after they already have your money.

That's ironic,..............the only time I had a hard time with a GPU RMA was with XFX. The guy kept asking me to do test after test and had me repeat them several times. I kept asking for an RMA and he kept refusing to consider it. I finally gave up and put the card on the shelf. (XFX Radeon HD-6870 Black edition with a supposed lifetime warranty) I had been recommending XFX and buying that brand for years. I have since sold all of the rest of my XFX cards.

Hmm. Im sorry you had issues with support in the past. The only time we refuse to deny a customer's RMA request is if the customer already sent the card in and we know its not a GPU related issue. Id be happy to look it up for you to investigate it further. When did this happen? What was the issue? PM me to avoid sharing any personal information if you please.

Thank you

not only him ... a lot, i bet, had issues with XFX (here or elsewhere i more commonly saw XFX other than any brands in "complain")

IE:
my 1st XFX card? 6850 Black Ed., cause of death? fan stopped working(at last it's what i thought), did it RMA well? nope. reason involved? cracked die due to a over-tight screw due to user negligence (albeit the fact that i never touched the original cooler and all stickers where still in place, include the warranty void if removed on 1 HSF screw)
my 2nd XFX card? 7950 double D., cause of the death? oh well not really dead but 1 fan on 2 stopped working, did it RMA well? nope again ... it was my fault (presumably) reason involved? none, just a plain refusal, solution found? changed the fan by myself and resold the card to buy something else

it's not a random change of mind who did put XFX in my "do not buy" list
do not misunderstand: some user have no problem and when a XFX product work they work fine, tho i hate playing lottery with hardware (except with Nvidia and their Shield Tablet ... i one of the lucky guy with a "no default at all sample" )
