AMD rolled out the latest version of its Catalyst software suite. Much like two of NVIDIA's recent "Game Ready" driver releases, the new Catalyst 14.11.1 beta is launched specifically for two of the hottest game releases of the season, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and Assassin's Creed Unity. Since neither title supports less than 4 GB of system memory, or even Windows XP, AMD's release is highly specific, and only covers 64-bit Windows 8.1 Update 1, Windows 7, and Windows Vista. Grab it from the link below.

It's kinda funny how nVidia launch WHQL driver and AMD users has to stick with BETA drivers. I'm done with my 2x R9 290X GPUs. Better driver support @ nVidia.

Uhhh..... sure, if you say so. I guess we're ignoring that AMD have WHQL drivers out that are just fine, and that AMD betas are often far more stable than nvidias release drivers?

Sucks that you're having issues with your 290X setup, but it doesn't make any of what you said factually correct.

You know what the difference between WHQL and Beta is? The cost of the WHQL label, all a WHQL driver is essentially is a driver the company paid to get certified for the most part. Many times a beta driver later gets re-listed as a WHQL by AMD/Nvidia just because they decided that was an excellent driver to get WHQL certification. Nvidia just chooses to pay the fee more often than AMD does but it does not make any difference in the drivers performance. If a driver is bad ever both companies remove it within 24 hours and make it pretty easy to back track to an older version (Or release an updated variant fixing said issues) so I cannot understand how having a label no one else can see really matters.

I downloaded it specifically for unity.

No you cannot say stuff like that, that's heresy! (Sarcasm intended).

You cant be serious. Ive used Catalyst drivers since day 1 and even before back from the ATI 8500 card for AGP.
Ive experienced crachses( A few) but not nearly as much as on my other machine which allways have been Nvidia.
WHQL is only a stamp microsoft puts on it, to say its stabile with the system, thats it. I allways use beta drivers if they are stabile and produce some extra power, otherwise I dont change it or I roll back if I experience any problems.

By the way my last crash with catalyst drivers was back in september 2009 when HD5850 came out, all has been good ever since.
I cant say that about my other machine with Nvidia card, 1 driver fried the card and i had to buy another GFX, ustability in beta drivers, low framerates(spikes)...just a peice of shit.

I sure hope they fix the random no start up fan with this driver. My TFIV cooler at times one fan will just stop and its always the master card that does it.

And no its not the card, its these beta drivers causing the problem ;)

This does the opposite for me CLEAN INSTALL and the stuttering comes again... HEAVLY. even sound un-synced on the videos and in-game, reverted to 14.9 WHQL and get back to normal, XFX radeon 270X 2 GB, FX-4100, Win 8.1 64, 8gb ram waiting for 14.12 WHQL

With such changelog I won't bother. I kind of thought stuff like the dreaded black screen would be a priority, but apparently no fucks were and are given... :/

What?!

Shit man, I've been using these drivers all night, and testing the crap out of em. On a single card rig They work great! I haven't had one black screen all day ;)

just a tweak here n there do wonders, and well could be just enough of a tweak that some un-reported solutions are never added in the news. And alas, "no bLAcK screen's"

The black screen started with 14.9 for me. I never had any significant (if any at all) problems with AMD drivers in maybe 10 years, but this randomly happening bug always completely freezes my system. It got even worse with 14.9 betas, so I have no reason to believe it's magically any better now.

hate to sound like a broken record, but you sure its not a problem with your OC? just because it shows up only on the latest drivers doesn't mean the instability wasnt there all along. I've got a bad stick of ram in my secondary PC that causes a BSOD roughly once a week, if i was inclined to jumping to conclusions i could have assumed a driver caused that too since i updated nvidia drivers on that machine right before the problems started.

Nope, I don't overclock my card at all. I bought it months ago, like in april, and it worked flawlessly until I installed 14.9 :( It would work no problem, then all of a sudden black screen and a total system lockup, another day without problems, then black screen, reboot, and then 8 times in a row even seconds after booting up. It sucks a humongous ass. Since I rolled back to 14.4 it hasn't happened since. Seriously, this is the first time in ~10 years of owning AMD cards I have a problem like this, and I did some funky stuff in past.

Ah this. No, I am absolutely certain it's not related at all. 5 months without a problem and then the day I installed new Catalyst I was suddenly getting black screens. Nope.

See and the 14.9 works great for me... the 2 beta drivers after the WHQL would get random black screen but it could've been a crossfire thing. I know Trixx is fucked using crossfire, but whatever.

Yes agree but once you disable ULPS in trixx the only way to enable it again is to remove the driver and do a reinstall.. MSI AB works but can be flaky at times. Even though USPS can be disabled and then re- enabled using AB once its removed ulps is off. I've emailed w1zzard on this matter but never got any reply on the issue.

just change the registry setting yourself manually, only takes a minute and a reboot to turn it on or off.
