How to definitely identify GPU model?

I recently bought a GTX680,but i'm afraid of buying a fake one.
So i use GPU-Z to check ,all things show that it's a real GTX680.
But i heard of , by modifying bios of graphics card, one can make GPU-Z shows GTX680 on any of NVIDIA card. is it possible?
If so, then how can i definitely what model of my GPU really is?

If you take the heatsink of you can check if the label on the core says GK104-400-A2.

If you buy it from china seller, it may be a fake.

If it looks like the real thing, assuming you know what model of GTX 680 you bought and GPU-Z says it has all the 680 stuff then it is most likely a 680.

PC hardware is very hard to fake, and most of the time a fake is easily spotted assuming you know your stuff.

Edit: Instead of taking the card apart (which you can do anyway) benchmark the card and see if the benchmark scores are close to the "real" deal.

Use stuff like Unigine Valley, Firestrike or something.

Try dumping the Bios thru GPU-Z, then then open it up in something like NiBitor and post a screenie, there may be some indicators in there to authenticity.

For starters, other than your card's BIOS, give us a screenshot of GPU-Z window, please?
So we can see your current info - what MHz speed the video card's core & memory run on, and also chip used, year of production/etc.

if youre afraid you may buy it from your local shops, sometimes buying online kinda risky or you can buy from well known online shop
