Yea, FarCry 1 is still one of my all time favorites. I had a ATI 9600pro that wasn't cutting it.. So, I bought an ATI 9800pro and it made the game look amazing. I remember looking at the rust on the first ship and all the shadows and lights. My 9800pro was paired with a AMD XP 3000+ overclocked to an AMD XP 3200+. That chip was nice all you had to do was raise the multipler and you had a 3200+.. hehe I started to reinstall FC3 and go through it again.. Who all has bought this game in this thread?

Yes, I agree! The most fun in Far Cry was versus the humans. not so fun after all the bio-engineered monsters (alien blood?) showed up. Funny, I think it fits the Crysis story much better!

Agreed, shooting humans is just so much fun! I remember playing it with my 6600GT with had texture issues on the start, black boxes and a minor case of serious artifacting with the lightning, a patch fixed that though. Suddenly I want to ride an elephant.

I actually pre-ordered FC4, which is a rarity for me (especially considering it's Ubisoft, LOL). Usually I wait till after a game releases and gauge user reaction. However, given the excellent way in which SC: Blacklist was done (despite losing most of the stealth which was my favorite part), and the very good job, IMO Ubi has done continuing the FC series, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt.

And yes, I DO remember how impressed I was by not only the rust on the ship, but the water!!

For anyone that wants to go back and start at the beginning Steam has a Franchise pack that includes Far Cry, Far Cry 2: Fortune's Edition, Far Cry 3, Far Cry 3 Bundle DLC, Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon altogether for $10 or you can just pick up Far Cry 3 for $7.50

That franchise pack is a steal for the many many hours of fun you'll get out of it.

Should be allset for playing this on High/ultra... can currently play Crysis 3 near maxxed out.

Far Cry uses the same engine as Crysis right? Or am I wrong.

I personally like FC3 better than Crysis 3, just because of fighting humans over aliens.

I just find it more fun to fight against other humans. Crysis 3 is an amazing game dont get me wrong.... Grpahics... Engine.... Features.... amazing... i just dont like fighting crazy aliens all the time lol

Edit: just a heads-up; after seeing leaked PC footage of FC4's HUD it will take the modding community a while to sort this mess out, rather than reduce the amount of ["E" Pick this up] they have added more ["E" Pick this up "F" move this] imersion breaker, minimap shows where everything is just-incase one or two 18+yr olds did not get an education and require their hands held, flashing boxes and bodies in FC3 were red and anouying; this time around they are silver just incase you cannot see that you should interact with items. So Ubi have ignored feedback from FC3 PC community and catered for consoles even though PC was meant to be the lead platform. :cry:

After a little more digging; as official reviews for PC are still under NDA and with no official PC code to be released until launch, it is challenging to fully understand why Ubi chose to go with auto drive; however this seems to be a design decision based round the (Xbox 360 Controller for Windows) being recommended for FC4

[my personal opinion is it would be difficult to aim and fire a weapon while driving with a controller due to a lack of inputs] I think this would have been easier with KB & Mouse "A" "D" aim with mouse and click LMB; easy drive would no longer be required, just a thought

So one of my friends said that they bought a key from GMG and activated it on Steam even though GMG lists it as a UPlay key.

Can any one verify this with GMG or any others? I wouldn't mind getting the game, but I'm not going to pay $60 for this game.

it runs fairly well for being a unpatched copy
we will see @ launch if uplay manages to fuck it all up
currently have it *patched out* so that simplifys things depending on how launch goes I may request a refund from my pre order
runs fairly decent if a bit prone to the odd graphical glitch or mission being broken
ubisoft needs this title to launch FLAWLESSLY they have been digging them selves quiet the hole lately they can't afford for another major launch to blow up in there face
