Well I suppose I have had this trusted old Thermaltake for 6.5 years and in that time it has taken a bit of a beating. On Thursday night I started getting random (but pretty frequent) PC resets when playing games, just as if I pressed the reset button myself, no fuss or drama, the PC just reset and booted back to Windows, no BSOD, No freeze, no windows error message on reboot, by today (Sunday) it's happening every 5-10 minutes in game.
Firstly I tested RAM....... fine
HDD's....... Healthy
Virus checked everything
Checked all temps...... no problems and no changes, GPU don't go above 70C full load, VRM;s even lower, CPU 58C.
Full clean uninstall of Drivers & CCC then clean re-install
Changed the modular PCI-E cabling around on PSU (mine has 4 rails, kinda hoped it would just be one dodgy rail)
All to no avail, Bios HW Monitor shows good readings for +12V, 5V & 3V but I am thinking that I read somewhere that only one rail gets measured.................. Does this sound like a PSU problem to you guys? Only happens when under heavy load (CPU + Gfx) as I can run stress tests on just the CPU with no problem but of course mine is very low power.
As a precautionary measure I have already ordered the XFX 750W XXX Edition which is the Seasonic OEM unit..... got a good deal on it If the problem persists once I get and install the new PSU at least I know my frustrations lay elsewhere!
