Hi.

I bought a Dell Inspiron N5030 and it have 1900 hours on it.
Made in mid-2010 and maximum temperature of CPU is 47 celcius.

Should I change thermal paste or leave it like that and just clean the fan?

Thank you

If the temps are reasonable I would just clean the fans.

If ever I change the thermal is it better to use a thermal pad over a thermal paste because paste tend to become more liquid when its hot?

Better. And it doesn't liquidify (if that is a word).

It does depends on the design of the heatsink though. One laptop my brother had had super thick thermal pads because the mounting mechanism was too high so the gap between heatsink and CPU was really huge. Retarded design and the CPU overheated even when it was brand new (AMD 3000+ skt 754, I did like that it used desktop CPU's). It's also pretty common for them to have that aluminium foil you can't remove without scratching the heatsink really bad.

yeah since its more direct than pads,
i agree try clean the fan first and check the temp
if its too hoot you may consider re paste it or if you wanna be ghetto you can use several ply of aluminum foils between the heatsink and the processor as a shim

Finally I did open all. I clean all the dust there and it was smokerso even if not lot of use the dust sticked in the tar. Second the cpu had thermal paste or pad whatever it was teared up and the heatsink is copper so i put paste on that one.
End of cooler is for a chipset or gpu not sure . This one needed a thermal pad so i just left the original pad and put a dot of paste and screw it back.
Seems fine the regular temps is 39 celcius. Fan is working only when temps go to 40 i think. It start then stop.

... and your laptop doesn't let you (BIOS option) have the fan on all the time?.
